COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

From the can. Outstanding canned IPA. Well balanced with a moderate hop bitterness and a pleasant sweetness. Very subtle pineapple flavor, although Iím not sure if there really is pineapple in it or if itís just the combination of hops. Whatever it is, itís awesome.

Can @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Cloudy amber-orange with a frothy head. As hoppy as it is fruity, itís stated in both aspects. Thereís some dryness in the palate, and itís strength is not overbearing.

Aroma of pineapple, mango, orange slices, and some grassy hops. Taste is creamy mango, pineapple, orange slices, and some bitter grapefruit. Caramel and grassy hops are pronounced when the beer warms.

Canned 5/25/16. Pours a pristine gold with righteous head, and a fine layer of retention on the surface. Nose of pineapple, peach, bready sweet malt, red apple, candied lemon peel, white flowers, bit of pine and earth. Flavor is easy, crisp, balanced juiciness, bready, moderate floral and rindy linger. Flavors include candied lemon, tangerine, bready malt, flower petals, itís a simple and easy beer. And I really really like that. Nothing is out of balance (yet personally I like a bit more bitterness). Overall, being a few months old, this is another solid go-to beer when you just need a fundamentally drinkable IPA. Glad these guys expanded their distribution.

Golden color, white head with medium retention. Aroma has piny notes with grapefruit hints. Flavor with a mild bitterness, orange peel notes and resin hints. Good bitterness in the final, very fresh mouthfeel.

Rated on 7-09-2016 (Canned on 05/25/16) This beerís appearance is a large off-white head that mostly diminished, transparent amber body, slow rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma presents citrus hops, floral, fruity, tropical fruit, pineapple, orange, hoppy, earthy, semi-sweet, and caramel malt. The flavor presents heavy bitterness, citrus hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange, light pine hops, and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. A quaffable IPA with a moderate bitter aftertaste. A decent beer for the style.

Can as a gift, likely Beautiful Beers but hey, free beer isnít likely to get me to conjecture too much. Light to mid-gold, with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Mango and orange peel on the gentle aroma. Massively bitter taste. At first it feels far too bitter but I get used to it fairly quickly. Long resinous bitter finish. Hard citrus and almond in the aftertaste. Pretty special.

That a lot bigger a beer than I expected, Plenty of Aroma and a lot of tropicals on the tongue, and a distinct dry finish. Iím down with that.

Light amber, hazy. Medium body, flavorful, spritzy, long aftertaste. Bitter, dry. Hoppy, herby. Not very inspiring. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice deep amber color. Aromas of hops/hops/citrus. Strong hop flavors with sweet malts and a peppery crisp dry finish.
