COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our lightest beer, made from 100% malted barley. This blonde lager is what sailors really swam to shore for; it’s light, with very little bitterness and a slight malt finish.

This has become, in short order, my favorite Hawaii beer. Stayed away from Maui brewing because I despise their Big Swell IPA, but the Bikini Blonde is certainly a decent beer. It’s perhaps the heaviest lager you’ll ever find in a can. Malty without skunk and it finishes like a champ. Really nice session beer.

Hawaiian pale lager loosely situated in the ’Münchener Helles’ style, from a can bought at De Caigny in Essen. Medium thick, lightly lacing, egg-white, moussy head on top of a warm yellowish golden coloured beer ’clouded’ with a haze of tiny yeast bits throughout. Aroma of sweetbread, breakfast cereals, damp cloth, field flowers (buttercups), freshly cut grass, white bread dough, green apple peel. Fairly neutral onset, no esters as expected from a lager, bit minerally, quickly shifting to malt sweetness, grainy and a tad bready, no metallic effects, softish carbo and smooth, even slightly creamy body; well-dosed floral hop bitterishness in the finish, soft and gentle with a grassy accent; malt sweetness prevails, though, as defines this particular classic lager style. In all: nothing unpleasant here, simple and straightforward but quenching and feeling ’genuine’, with a balance of malt sweetness and soft floral hoppiness that equals that of the classic Bavarian Münchener Helles examples.

12 oz. can. Pours a thick, well retained, fluffy white head, with slight lacing, over a clear effervescent, light gold (SRM 4) body.....nose is mildly spicy, with hints of ginger, mild light colored fruits (pear, apple), mild DMS......taste is slightly malty sweet,, with light DMS, mild spice with ginger tones, finishing wih moderate hop bitterness......mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, medium carbonation. This is a light style, and this beer meets the guidelines quite nicely. It is light, clean, crisp and refreshing. BJCP 9/3/15/5/8

Can. Sunny yellow in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of soft pilsner malt, along with a bit of lemon and mild herbal hop. Flavors are typical Helles with elements of semi-sweet pilsner malt, whote flour, minerals, and a spritz of lemon. Medium bodied with a clean finish. Uncomplicated and refreshing.

Pours a clear medium yellow with a white thin head that leaves little spot lacing. Nose is fiant grain. Body is medium thin. Taste is a sweet malt with a touch of malt (?) other than pilsner. Maybe slight Bienna. Probably not, it’s just my inexperience. Slight bitterness at the end. 12 oz can The can is the Sam Adams $1 million can. Keep the cans coming!
