Tap at the Bistro BA fest. At 6.5% Pours black with off-white bubbles. Deep dark chocolate aroma. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is motor oil and chocolate. It finishes that way. The result is wonderful in the mouth.

On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. This one was listed at 8% abv. Poured a dark brown -almost black- color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, coconuts, light roast, cocoa, coconut milk, and light rum. Tastes of light rum, coconut husk, some chocolate, and roast. I found the barrel aging leaning more on the subtle side and well done.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a small lasting light tan head. Aromas of coconut, dark chocolate, roastiness and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coconut, dark chocolate, light roastiness and light vanilla with a smooth lingering chocolatey coconut finish.

FoBAB 2009. This looked black in the glass and was capped by a slender tan head. The aroma had molasses, burnt coconut, sawdust, a hint of chocolate, and charred wood. The flavor was much the same, but the dark malt sweetness seemed a bit off, a bit tired. Okay.

on tap at the brewpub, this is basically the coconut porter aged in rum casks, however the rum nose and taste is quite overpowering, a little of the coconut and porter taste on the finish but I much preferred their standard porter

Tasted on tap at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival 12/5/2008. This porter pours a deep black color from the tap. Small sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, coconut and some rum. A medium to full bodied porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy. Touch of coconut, little bit of rum. Nice balance. The rum barrel has added some sweetness and a touch of rum. A touch under carbonated. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Tap Strong Ale 2008. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is all rum, the most intense rum flavor Ive ever smelled in a beer, crazy intense. Taste is full of rum, rum, with some malt. Tropical styled coconut porter.
