3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 15, 2007 Brought home a can thanks to fordest. Poured a dark black with a nice tan head that lasted at least a minute. Taste and smells of coconut. Truely unique coconut flavor with chocolate and a little coffee. I think the coconut needs to be used in some more brews of this style. It works very well.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark brown with reddish highlights. Faint yet pleasant nose, coffee, mocha, burnt toast. Very rich and full mouthfeel. The taste is quite hoppy, sweetly malty, coffee chocolate. A very tasty porter. Sampled on tap at the brewery

Brand spanking new 12 oz can straight from Lahaina, HI on Maui - if only I had been the one picking it up. Dense black, lasting thin kahaki colored head. Nice nose here of bittersweet chocolate and toasted coconut, with softer notes of roasted coffee and vanilla bean. Dark roasted coconut coffee and bitter chocolate flavors throughout with hints of licorice. Well balanced with a light hop bitterness in the end. No major sweetness to speak of. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry bittersweet, coconutty finish. Very nice session porter and truly well done...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at brewpub. Faint aroma with slight roasted malt notes. Mostly opaque body. Very slight red visible when held to light. Very thin, off-white ring of head. No lace. Very coffeeish. Coconut is very evident and well done. This is the first coconut brew that I am aware of.

Draft @ Falling Rock: Blakc with a tan head. Roasted aroma had notes of chocolate and coconut. The flavor pretty much matched. Not that sweet. I was a little disapointed. I think I was looking for something different due to having Springslicker’s version which was a liquid mounds bar. That was great.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2012 GABF2006. Opaque enveloping blackness. Small brown head. Nose is coconut! Some roasty malts and chocolate as well. Kind of smells like a "watered down" Mounds, but is really nice, nonetheless. Taste is roasted malts, milk chocolate and coconut cream. Body is medium and creamy. Finishes with more coconut, roasted malts and chocolate. Very nice and very drinkable!
***Re-rate*** Can. Black pour with a tall, dense brown head. Nose is roasted malt, dark chocolate and candyish notes but not much coconut. Taste is roasted malt, caramel, milk chocolate, light coffee and faint coconut. Body is medium with a soft, creamy carbonation. Ends with more caramel, roasted malt, chocolate candy bar, and light coconut.

On tap at the brewery...I also took a growler back to the hotel I had to stuff in a small dorm fridge. Anyway it pours out a deep brown color with a small white head. Awesome toasted coconut aroma with some chocolate and roasted malt. The taste is nice and complex with toasted coconut, rich roasty malts and some chocolate. Very good mouthfeel with a solid finish. Innovative beer, that I believe is worldclass.
