3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours nearly solid black with a thin brown head. Smells like a Mounds bar with a little toffee. Moderate body with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Bitter chocolate and coconut flavor. Long coconut finish. Memorable beer.

Can. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma of coconut, chocolate, and toasted malt. Flavors of coconut, sweet roasted malt, light smoke and a bit of cream. Medium body, roasty/bittersweet toasty/sweet finish. Nice.

12 oz can brought back from Hawaii by one of my co-workers. Served at cellar temperature. Poured a clear dark brown color with ruby red light shining through. Head was bubbly, light brown, and dissipated relatively quickly. Aroma was dominated by malty chocolate with subdued roastiness and minimal coconut. Slightly sweet on the tongue with lots of milk chocolate flavor and a dash of cocoa powder. There was minimal roasted malt and only a hint of coconut. Pretty good beer, but a bit overrated, IMO.

12oz can from a trade with someone (sorry). Dark brown/black body with a medium sized, tan head, fading. The nose is all coconut, chocolates, toffee and vanilla. The flavor is lightly sweet with milk chocolate, brown sugar, coconut, caramel and lots of cocoa on the finish. Medium body is soft with light carbonation. Nice.

12oz can. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of coconuts, chocolate, woody, and some vanilla. Tastes of coconuts, chocolate, toasted malts, and finishes with light coffee. I’m not much of a coconut fan, but I was into this aroma.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2008 10-9-07 can. Nice rich black pour with short lived head. Amazing warm oatmeal smell (surprisingly no real smell of coconut at first). Great sweet taste with a creamy mouthfeel that I can’t even begin to describe. Perfect carbonation and texture. Ideal palate! The only coconut I really got in this was in the finish and perhaps that is why I was so pleasantly surprised by this brew. Two thumbs up - I wish it were easier to get.

Thanks to dickinsonbeer for bringing this goodie to egajdzis’ pre-Kennett party the night before the event...
Appears a a dark brown with a small tan head that fades into a hearty collar. Spotty lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of nuts, caramel, cream, coconut, wood, and sweet cocoa.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a decent, smooth mix going on with nothing overpowering the brew. The coconut is subtle and enjoyable.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sweet up front, robust, and nutty.

This stuff was fantastic. A great use of flavors that compliment each other well. Chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and coconut in aroma and flavor with moderate carbonation and a medium body.

33 cL can, thanks to BierKönig. Pours dark and thick, almost black and with a huge chocolate brown head. Aroma is sweet and roasted with a soft note of chocolate, I don’t sense the coconut at all. Mouthfeel is vevelt soft, creamy. Very smooth chocolate flavour with some liqourice bite towards the finish. The beer remains soft into the finish but softly allows some bitterness to shine through. I may sense some coconut beneath the chocolate and in the smoothness, but it is by no means easy to tell. Very nice brew.
