Our Coconut Porter is a classic robust porter spiced with all natural toasted coconut. It is black in color and crowned with a creamy, dark tan head. It begins with a malty-toasted-coconut aroma followed by a rich, silky mouthfeel with tastes of dark malt, chocolate, and hints of coffee. It then finishes with flavors of toasted coconut and hoppy spice to balance the finish.

Reviewed from notes verbatim on 10/5/10 A: Dark brown beer with near excellent clarity. I think this can was over-carbed. had to pause four times to get into glass. Head is a whipped tan several finger which tried to never go away. S: Toasted chocolate and coconut. Unique. sweet, cocoa, herbal. Sweet and nice. T: Less coconut than anticipated. Okay, chocolatey. Finish is dry with coffee tones. Finish resonates for quite some time. M: Over carbed. Makes beer feel quite light (because it’s all foam). Dry finish. D: I’ve had this before and the beer was much better, too bad I’m reviewing based on this one. Will revisit later and edit. Serving type: can 03-18-2011

On tap at the brewery, served in a shaker. Pours deep chestnut with a small head that fades quickly to a few bubbles. On the nose, there are notes of coffee, roasted malts and toasted coconut, along with a hint of smoke and grassy-earthy hops. The flavour is medium-dry up front with roasted malts, coffee and a hint of toasted coconut. As it develops, the coconut really comes to the fore, with a nice toasty character. The finish is long and roasty, quite appropriate for a porter, but with the addition of delicate coconut notes. On the palate it is medium in body with a dryish texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent brew. The coconut works surprisingly well. 2013-08-04

Poured from a can into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a black color with a dark brown hue and some light sediment with a large and very foamy off-white head that had good retention, little cling, and modest lacing. Its aroma featured notes of chocolate, coconut, caramel, some sugars, and bits of coffee and earthy hops. The taste is a sweet-bitter mix with strong flavors of chocolate and coffee, with a subtle presence of coconut beneath, and notes of caramel and grain. It was a fairly wet and watery beer with a lighter, fluffy mouthfeel and low-to-average carbonation. Thank you Corey and Carolyn for the gift!

Smooth and creamy palate with sweetness from the toasted coconut. Middle has a a roasted malt flavor which finishes nicely with bitterness and milk chocolate. No alcohol presence. Nice brew, but a little thick and chewy for a porter.
