3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep brown-essentialy black with medium, though quickly diminishing, beige head. Aroma of toast, coconut, light coffee, and a nice hoppy finish. Taste is sweet with a light bitter finish. Nice thick oily texture with low carbonation, full bodied and smooth. Pretty tasty stuff.

Can at home from utobeer shared with Sarah. Aroma is woody cocunut bark, chalk and slight soap. Dark caramel ruby red colour is a thin light tan head. Flavour is choc, chalk and desiccated cocunut. Dryish finish with slight spice. Very nice porter.

Aromas and flavors are dominated by roasted overtones... Roasted coffee, roasted grains, dusty dark coco and possibly roasted coconut. Dusty, earthy, ashy nuances also add layers of subtle complexity. Carbonation is a bit less refined then I would prefer, though the concentration of flavors more then makes up the difference. A solid, good value, toasty porter. Don't expect defined coconut flavors in this beer.. It's simply dominated by roasted nuances.. Which are enjoyable for what they are.. Overall, among the top value porters on the market today.

Lightly toasted malt, nut, coconut. Smooth, very creamy. Consistent with a little toastiness on the finish. Quite good.

355ml can from Beers of Europe - A break from the crappy World Lagers trip Iíve been on, and something a bit more robust. It has a nice deep brown (almost black) colour to it. It has a nice beige head that dies down moderately and leaves little lacing. Aroma is toasty, roasty and coffee-like, with deep roasted malts and the toasted coconut sweetness playing a subtle part in the nose, and this becomes more apparent upon warming. Mouthfeel is bit thin and fizzy, but for a porter, thatís okay. It does look like it would have more body. Some hop bite gives way to a creamy smooth finish thatís loaded with the malt/coffee/chocolate flavours, with the coconut coming in at the end to make it worthy of being called "coconut" porter.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma is smells like roasted...not nuts so I guess coconuts. It smells really nice. If pours with a nice tan head but fizzes out after a minute. The beer itself is very black. It light on bitter and light sweet as well but tastes very roasted. I was a bit dissapointed in the beer because itís body was lacking. A little too light for me. The mild hints of coffee leave a bitter taste in the mouth that leaves pretty quickly. A good one time try but not again.

This beer is so good on tap! Even though they have 16 taps available at Yeasty Beasty here in little olí Monmouth, I got stuck on this one for several visits in a row. I usually try to get something different each time, but this is too good, and I know it wonít last forever! I donít pick up a lot of the toasted coconut in the aroma, but it does lend some nuttiness in the finish. What I do get is lots of chocolate/cocoa and vanilla flavor in a wonderfully creamy beer. It sort of reminds me of Nestlť Quik chocolate milk mix. Very delicious!

After the sento it is time to relax with a beer & I chose a great one! Maui Brewingís Coconut Porter. 6% can from Antenna America. Brewed with actual hand-roasted coconut nice! Lovely dark brown pour with a light beige head. Lots of carbonation for a porter. Great coconut & chocolate aroma. The taste is nutty, roast chocolate & coconut. Iíd love to try this on tap someday. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, super easy to drink. A really nice low ABV dark beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
No canning information.
Appearance: The body is opaque black throughout with chestnut hues through the edges. The head is tall and dense with great retention, slowly settling into a thin tan coating.
Aroma: The aroma is strong of roasted coffee with intense sweet chocolate notes. Hints of coconut hangs way in the background, but itís definitely hidden by the cocoa and coffee presence.
Taste: Light dark chocolate notes are on the intro with a light toasted mid-taste with underlying coconut that is very mild with dark chocolate hitting the finish lightly. Not nearly as flavorful as the aroma indicates.
Palate: Lighter body than expected, a tad watery, with light to moderate carbonation.
Overall: The aroma is near perfect, it needs coconut though, but the flavor is weak in comparison and the body is a bit thin. Oh well canít have it all.

On tap. Toasty coconut aroma initially; gets trumped by booze, roasty malts, toffee. Dry on the palate, clearly a robust porter. Coconut gets lost in the mix. Could use more body. Decent.
