Our Coconut Porter is a classic robust porter spiced with all natural toasted coconut. It is black in color and crowned with a creamy, dark tan head. It begins with a malty-toasted-coconut aroma followed by a rich, silky mouthfeel with tastes of dark malt, chocolate, and hints of coffee. It then finishes with flavors of toasted coconut and hoppy spice to balance the finish.

Can: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a rather large medium brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted coconut is clearly noticeable with some roasted malt notes. Taste is a nice mix between some fresh roasted coconut and some dry roasted malt. Bitterness is well controlled and coconut is well balance and more then a novelty. Body is a bit thin for the style but carbonation is pretty good. I could see this going well with some coconut chocolate cake.

Tasted 1/16/09. 12oz Can. Filtered with a dark brown hue. Webbed ring of off-white head. Aromas of a chocolate coconut candy bar. Touch fudge and vanilla. Medium bodied with a woody, nutty malt undertone. Big, spicy malt character. Fudge and dark chocolate. Mild coconut flavor. Slight banana estery yeast note. This was good.

(12oz can) Courtesy of IrishBoy. I really enjoyed this beers roast coffee aroma and flavour, though I did not detect any coconut? Really, coconut? Anyhow, the sweetness is balanced by the brew’s slight ashtray flavour. I actually liked it. 7/3/7/3/15

Can: Brown colored pour with medium size off white head. Toasted coconut aroma with some coffee and chocolate hints. Roasted malt flavor, with some sweetness to it. Not bad.

Got this in trade from someone, but I’m getting old and I’ve forgotten who it was. The pour was of a pretty standard porter. The aroma was coffee, chocolate malts and an odd perfumy odor. The flavor was roasted coffee beans, chocolate malt and definite coconut, mostly on the aftertaste. Almost an oily mouthfeel. Decent, but not something I’d want to drink often.

Can pours a thick-looking black with tall brown head. Pretty. Roasty and toasty nose with noticeable dark chocolate notes. Flavor has some dark cocoa sweetness with subtle roasted sourness, like stale espresso, and a lingering burnt bitterness that might be a bit much, actually, detracts a little from drinkability. Overall a nice flavor. Maybe a touch thin.

Can thanks to Stefanje via trade. Sweet, a new state!. Pours a very attractive black with red around the edges. Nose is a bit sweet, distinct note of sesame, likely due to the toasting of the coconut. This is followed by a nice note of coconut. Once I taste it, it a quite robust porter base with a very nice chocolatey-coconut finish. Kind of like a Mounds bar. If I were to have a beer made with coconut, this is how I would want it to taste, though the sesame notes in the nose are a bit overpowering at times. Still, damn fine.

More goodness in a can, out of Hawaii. Aloha to me on this one. This beer was just an outstanding surprise, and way over my expectations. Pours a nice deep ruby / amber with golden head. Aroma is filled with nice flavorful coconut. Anybody who has had fresh coconut, self cut with a cutlass will know what the fresh flavor is like will love this beer. Notes of light malts and chocolate. Taste is just filled with well done coconut, again with same process as above, this tastes like a freshly cut coconut, gives you this thick chunky mouthfeel that you get from opening a fresh coconut. There is also some good roasted malts, with a nice light chocolaty finish. Though low in abv, this porter sure sounds more like a good stout. Purely amazing, well crafted.

Dark, dark brown color and the head dissipates almost instantly. The aroma is like chocolate syrup with toasted coconut. This beer is refreshing and very drinkable. Taste is coconut followed by dark chocolate truffle leaving a roasted malt and coffee aftertaste. Would be great with chocolate desserts.
