Our Coconut Porter is a classic robust porter spiced with all natural toasted coconut. It is black in color and crowned with a creamy, dark tan head. It begins with a malty-toasted-coconut aroma followed by a rich, silky mouthfeel with tastes of dark malt, chocolate, and hints of coffee. It then finishes with flavors of toasted coconut and hoppy spice to balance the finish.

From a 12 oz can this stuff was good. Poured dark brown with a fat brown head and sticky lacing. Big nose of burnt malts and chocolate and some coffee. Thick mouthfeel. Good flavors of roasted malts with some bitterness including the finish.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2009 can poured into a snifter has a dark chestnut brown color and a thin layer of frothy thick brown head. aroma has bakers chocolate, light toasted coconut, thick chewy malt, and faint underlying hops. chewy nose and a little nutty. mouth feel is medium thick with fine carbonation and good coating. flavor is loaded with malt, heavy chocolate, coffee notes, and more toasted coconut than anticipated. sweetness is enough to keep the bitterness in check and the finish is roasted sweetness with a long duration. really full and chewy bordering on milkshake with roast that just puts it over the top.

12 oz. can courtesy of a trade with alohaC. Pours just about black with a large, somewhat sudsy, tan head that faded to an incomplete film by the second sip and left partial lace. The aroma of this beer is just delicious with lots of coconut along with chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and coffee. The flavor is very nice as well with coconut, chocolate, roasted malt and coffee all present. Mild bitterness at the finish. Smooth, silky mouthfeel, although the beer itself is just a tad thin. A bit of coconut in the aftertaste as well. Overall, this is a very enjoyable beer!

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with no real substantial head formation, but I was running my damn mouth, so I could’ve just missed it. Smell: Pleasant aroma; a blend of chocolate, coconut, dark malts, and morningtime coffee. Taste: Dark maltiness tasting of roasty coffee and baker’s chocolate and, of course, there’s the toasted coconut shavings. Medium sweetness. Light, earthy hops and bitterness. Sweetish finish where the coconut really gains a hold over the palate. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A yummy porter is what it is. And in a can, no less. The addition of coconut breathes a bit of new life into the humble, sometimes lackluster porter style. I feel a trip to Hawaii would be entirely wasted on me, as I’d spend a considerable amount of it at the Maui Brewing Co.

12 oz can from HiTimes and Odeed! Thanks Jake! Been wanting this one for quite a while! Nose of chocolate, light coconut, vanilla, and flowery hops; hazy dark brown with a medium tan head; flavor is a light coconut note, chocolate, mild bitterness; slightly thin body with a slithly bitter chocolate finish. Tastes better than it smells!

Thanks to ajm for his generosity. Pours a watery black from the can with a tan head. Loaded with coconut on the nose with flavors of tapioca, mild cocoa, and vanilla in the flavor. The only thing this beer is missing is body -- that and some time in a rum barrel would make this incredible.

Smells creamy and roasty with notes of milk chocolate and slight lactic tang. the beer sits pretty damn dark, with a healthy looking tannish brown head. Roasty, Creamy, Malty, Chocolaty flavors. I’m not sure i taste the coconut, but im starting to think i can see it’s influence. Its decent and can’s are cool vessels, but is it anything special? No. I think it would be better with a firmer hop presence...and I dont usually say such things.

12oz can. Before this the only coconut beer I’ve had is a homebrew (mine) so I don’t have too much to contrast with this one. Pours a fairly light brown/black with lots of red highlights. A big tan head forms but the retention is lacking and eventually it leaves completely. Aroma is coconut upfront backed by tobacco, chocolate, and maltiness. The normal porter stuff is there and nice but the coconut is upfront. I would call the coconut component subtle but it is certainly very noticeable and not under done. Taste is the same as the aroma, a little watery and the body is a little thin. A fuller body and more creaminess would do this beer good. This is good though.
