3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Approximately 3-4 oz sampler at the Brewpub in Lahaina, Maui. The pour is a black, dark brown. The aroma is big pine, along with some tart grapefruit. The taste is the pine, pineapple, and then turns to lightly roasted malt, subtlety charred malt. Tropical fruit really takes over as it warms, though the char carries the finish. Fresh and clean.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Maui Brewing. Poured a coffee color into a pint glass with a thick khaki colored head. Candied grapefruit and pineapple aromas flow from the glass. Piney hops and espresso flavors play with the palate. An enjoyable hop bitterness lingers. Truly impressive black IPA that provides complex flavors and is extremely drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at brewery...black with nice tan head. Roasted malt and floral hops aroma. Tastes similar to aroma. Very good interpretation of style. I wish it were one of their canned beers.
