A nice aroma of hops, stronger than the aluminum of the can. This I found to be fantastic. A nice hop flavor, but a good graininess. Very smooth though also. Excellent.

Thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this bottle. The beer pours an amber color with a large white head. The aroma is very dank, with some strong resinous notes, as well as some pineapple and bread notes. The beer is also full of hop flavor. I get a lot of resin, pine and pineapple notes, with a little bit of toffee, which allows the bitterness to be fairly high. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

12 oz can into tulip. Pours a hazy orange with a medium light-beige head with great retention; leaves some nice lacework. Buttered biscuits is the first thing to come to mind after putting my nose in the glass; lemon rind is lurking in the background. Taste is bittersweet and grainy. Carbonation is medium-high and the body is full. Overall, another really good IPA. Out of the four IPAs I drank tonight, it looks like I saved the best two for last--and both came from a can.

On tap at Urge in RB/Poway on April 28, 2011. They had 8 different brews from Maui that day. Big rich pour of an IPA. Orange/ruby and heavy in the glass. Tropical fruit sweet and great.

12 oz. can- Pours deep golden with a nice white 3 finger head and spiderweb lacing. Aroma is very citrusy, grass, a little resin. The flavor is creamy bitter pine and again resin. There is some fruit, but not as much as in the aroma. Body is full to medium, carbonation is relatively high. Not bad, I would have to compare to Maui brewings big swell, not sure which is better.

Draft. Clear, bright orange. Nose is subtle, grains and English hops. Flavor is crisp and clean, bready grains, light citrus and grass hops, moderate bitterness, finishes dry. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. A very easy drinking and low abv IPA, clean and fresh mouthfeel.

Can. Pours an amber with a white sticky head. Aroma is malt, hops, spices and grass. Flavor is grassy juicy hops, malt, spices grapefruit. Really like the hop profile grapefruit and grassy notes and sweetness balance in this one. Under-rated!

I like it, a little pricey, but worth the try. Enjoyable nose of gapefruit and other citrus. Great mouthfeel. Taste of sweet malts followed by bitterness, but not quit enough. Then the flavors of toffee, citrus, with a background of lemon and earth like aftertaste. Leaves a mild dryness in the finish. The more I drink it the more I like it!

A vigorous pour from the can produces a fat, three finger thick, pale tan colored head (with just a hint of amber to it) in my New Belgium globe glass; as the head slowly subsides it leaves some spotty, layered lacing on the sides of my glass. When held up to the light the beer shows a brilliantly clear, copper-amber hue, otherwise it has an almost ruby tinged, deep amber hue to it. The aroma smells of crystal malt and American hops; specifically there are notes of ripe orange zest, touches of ruby red grapefruit, some caramelized sweet tea notes and a general spicy / toasted character characteristic of crystal type malts. The more I visit the nose, the more the hop character becomes dominant, yielding to bright tangelo zest notes, tropical fruit like lychee, floral peach as well as some slightly herbal, ripe citrus oil notes and hints of menthol or pine.

Softly bitter as it first hits my palate, the beer picks up a firmer, almost bitting bitterness through to the finish. The finish also sees a touch of sweet-tea like, caramelized malt character lingering on the palate along with the bitterness and some biting citrus laden zest fruitiness. The bitterness throughout the flavor profile intermingles seamlessly with a juicy citrus character (ripe tangelo and ruby red grapefruit notes), as well as subtler notes of menthol, pine and even a touch of herbaceous “dank” character. The essential oil, hop fruitiness is definitely the dominant note in the flavor; in addition to the already mentioned flavors there is also quite a bit of tropical fruit character that is lead by notes of lychee, a sort of juicy-fruit gum character and just a general, bright fruitiness. This has a touch of body to it that puts it into the medium’ish level of body; I usually prefer a lighter bodied IPA, but the extra malt sweetness that comes along for the ride really helps to boost the fruitiness from the hops quite a bit.

This is a very nice beer, I have never heard of this Falconer’s flight blend of hops, but it is certainly one that I find enjoyable and appropriate for an IPA. With the crystal malt character found in this beer I think that the hop character could have been turned up a bit more than it already is; this is at least a month or two old at this point, so it is likely that fresher samples are that much more hop balanced.

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice easy drinking IPA. Good malt character and hops additions. I was impressed this can gave off such great hops aroma with no can aroma.
