From notes, had at obriens for SDBW. Pours thick and black with a big tan head. Nose is of course, CoCoNuT, vanilla, chocolate, cherries, toffee, brown sugar and molasses. Taste is sweet with some good bitterness for such a big beer. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, finish is long and the body is medium. Thought it would have been heavier, but still great.

Very dark brown color. Huge notes of dark fruits, roasted malts, caramel, rich, not sweet or cloying, but very heavy and full bodied. Enjoyable.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 FaithHealer1 (333) - SCOTLAND - JAN 28, 2012
Keg at North Bar, Leeds. Pours a pitch black with a small, quickly dying head. Aroma is dark chocolate and coconut - a dark chocolate Bounty. Taste is really rich, with toasted coconut up front, then dark chocolate (an inversion from the taste - nice feature). Bourbon, treacle, coffee, malt and a touch of caramel also there. Big full body, but it isnt cloying. Long, long finish, and a very pleasant one, due to the lovely favours. This wins. Brilliant.

2011 rating: Smoky, mocha nose. Stron chocolate, black roast barley. Less dramatic coconut influence than the original. Drinks a bit heavy for me, but still such a superb use of base ingredients.

On tap at Small Bar. Black with a creamy tan head. Roasted grain and coconut aroma. Strong coconut flavor up front with chocolate and roasted grain flavors quickly following with a soft palate. Nice.

Enjoyed at the Maui Brewing Co brewpub. Best Imperial Porter I have had to date. No contest. Aroma is of toasted coconut candy, and burnt chocolate. Taste is rich chocolatey coconut, just like the regular version of this beer... except the body is HUGE and the roasted coconuts, the sweet toasty malt, and dark chocolate flavors linger forever. This brew is INCREDIBLY impressive. I’m loving it. Too bad they don’t bottle....err... can it.

On tap at Devilcraft bar’s Maui brewing event, Tokyo.
Coconut flavors not as strong as in the normal porter thankfully. Use of cocoa nibs is evident,as the cocoa/chocolate flavor melds well with the coconut. Slight whisky/bourbon element from the higher alcohol but all in all a nice beer.
A few points down as it’s still thin bodied. What is it with Maui brewpub beers? All tasting thin bodied.
