COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogfish Head superstar – Sam Calagione, will be our fearless collaborator! The result – a beer-epiphany never before innovated called Liquid Breadfruit!

To celebrate the cornucopia of a Maui-grown harvest, we will ingeniously combine local breadfruit (or ulu) & toasted papaya seeds into the recipe of an imperial golden ale fermented using Dogfish Head’s DNA (Delaware-Native-Ale) yeast. You won’t want to wait until October to try it, but oh it will be worth the wait!

Can poured a cloudy gold with a lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of bread, breadfruit, yeat and spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of bread, breadfruit, yeast and light spice with a smooth dry lingering fruity finish.

Can @ home, picked up at 287 Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a murky, orange appearance with a fluffy, tan head. Chewy bready, grapefruity, lemon citrusy, a bit spicy aroma. Thick bready, somewhat tart, passion fruit, grapefruity, somewhat spicy, pretty strong flavor. Not a refreshing brew that you can kick back in the sun like the other Maui brews and way overpriced.

Can from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Pours a clear golden amber color with fine and sparse floating particles. Medium sized creamy tan head. Breadfruit is indeed an apt name. Aroma of bready, nutty notes with tropical and mild sugared fruits. Faint hoppy finish. The taste is earth notes, caramel, bread, stone fruits and a nearly salty note. Medium bodied. I quite like this.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Slightly hazy golden color with a wispy white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet fruit and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of ripe fruit, wheat and yeast. The finish is sweet and fruity. Decent overall.

12oz can: pours a transparent deep golden with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a unique floral fruity esters and a touch of clove. Starts with good fullness and light effervescence and sweet bready malt with some honey and floral spice before a drier bittersweet toasty finish. Well-balanced and enjoyable.

12oz can from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours amber with a nice beige head and a light toffee and citrus aroma. There is a strange blend of taste including caramel malt, yeast and bitter fruit. Not real tasty.

Can at Antenna. Deep gold with amber tints. Low, fine head. Fruity, tropical nose, citrus, honey, bread. Sweet honey flavor, bread, cake. A bit too sweet, but interesting and refreshing.

Can:   Amberish, pale haze, thin off-white head, sparce lacing.   Fruity nose, sweet, somewhat of a sweet melon nose.   Very dull, non-descript otherwise.   Similar tongue.   Has a shrubby aspect to it, but not in the berry sense, mountain berry, but in the SHRUB sense.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Pale breadiness, melon like sweetness, and very shrubby like earthiness on the finish.   This fits the definition of an odd one, 100%.   Not amused.

Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of metal, unripe peach, gum, ammonia. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, unclean, husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic. Horrible...husks, metal, and ammonia in the nose, with an equally dirty, husky, and metallic aftertaste. Shameful.

Can. Slightly hazy orange pour with a small spotty white head. Very sweet, some passion fruit. Funky and weird. I’m not digging this.
