Maui Brewing Mana Wheat

Tap at the brewery: Pale gold hue. Not much head to speak of. Mild carbonation. Light body. Malts were mild but it was surprisingly spicy and aromatic. Interesting herbs, perfume and flowers. Honey-like sweetness. Fairly refreshing.

On tap at the Maui Brewing Company Brew Pub. Poured a medium yellow color with a very small sized white head. Aromas of wheat, cloves, and something I couldn’t quite put my finger on (maybe reading JohnC’s comment about pineapples answers my question). Tastes follow with some bananas. Thin and watery body.

I had this on draft at Maui Brewing in Kahana. Talking with the owner, they try to take a traditional style and add native ingredients, in this case, this wit has Maui Gold pineapples in it. THey add a nice floral note and a unique complexity to this brew.
