Draught at Mikkeller Bar. Hazy red-brown coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel, cookies and dried fruits. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits and cookies with notes of hops. Hoppy finish.

Draught. Arbitrary score 4/5 for Appearance, as nighttime conditions prevented correct assessment. Quite fruity nose, touch woody, red berries, even fresh-smelling. Excessively burnt flavour, scorched sugar, burnt malts. Gets sweeter and sweeter warming up. Not well-bodied, but quite slick, and "closed". Not really enjoyable.

I had this on tap at the Maui Brewing Brewpub in Ka’anapali, Maui, Hawaii. This beer was just too sweet for me.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2012 Keg at North Bar, Leeds. Pours a great ruby-brown, with a small head that does quicker than a red-shirted Star Trek person.* I dont know who old chinwig is, but I suspect hes a bastard. And an arrogant one, at that. Taste is spicy, cloves, chocolate, a bit of caramel. Bastard-y. Thinner body and more subtle. Thats nice. Nice but not great. *I’m NOT a Star Trek-ist, I just know this is a common-ish joke.

Deep mahogany color. Lots of apples, cinammon and wood in the nose. Almost going towards an English Strong ale, but then pulls back and the mouth explodes with hops, with a excellent full malty backbone, then you know this isn’t from Europe. Lots of spicy hops in the mouth that just dance aroud. Earthy, wood finish with moderate bitterness. Very enticing. Very unique.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruti aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor with toffee. Medium bodied. Toffee and grapefruit lingers with light pine and light earth.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery, winter 2010. The beer board indicates 85 IBU’s and 8.75% alcohol, but this one is very drinkable. Colour is a deep amber with thin head. Nose has an enticing toffee character. On the palate there is some warmth from the high ABV but it comes across very (pleasantly) sweet with the hops to balance. A big beer for sure, but the toffee sweetness makes it very tasty & easy to drink.

Sweet with latent hops, obviously ready to taker you out. Super full, skunky green hop bitterness but with plenty of rich malt to back it up.

Tasted at the 13th Annual Strong Ale Fest on 12/5/2009. This English Strong Ale pours a medium brown color from the tap. Small sized beige foamy head with decent lacing. The aroma is Caramel and fruity. A medium bodied English Strong Ale. The malts are caramel and semi-sweet with nice hint of orange. The hops are earthy. Hints of brown sugar as well, although mostly at the finish. A very mellow and subtle winter warmer. A nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
