beerguy101 (3424), Newark, California, USA May 3, 2008 Tasted at the February Northern California Beer Tasting. This dopplebock pours a deep amber brown gold color from a 16oz(?) can. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel malt with a touch of spiciness. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Touch of nuttiness and toffee. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 27, 2008 Reddish-brown colour. Somewhat scant aroma has toasty/toffeeish notes. Rich toffee malts, some metallic character. The finish is a bit harsh on the alcohol. Big and chewy, enjoyable if completey lacking refinement. Beershine (1059), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle, special procurement. Mostly clear reddish-brown. Dates and some bread in the nose but weak aromas. Some good breadiness that falls apart at the end but the flavors are fun and there is enough complexity to keep it interesting. The palate is slightly thin but the date and liquid bread experience redeem it. Not bad at all. stoutlover72 (1316), NorCal, California, USA Feb 26, 2008 NorCal Feb ’08 - Thankfully, there is a picture of a rooster on here. With a name like "Red Cock", one might start think this is something else alltogether. The aroma on this beer was a soft roasted nuts aroma with enough sweet caramel malts to keep it balanced. Sweet toffe dominates the taste with some mixed nuts and caramel too. Not too bad from the can! padrefan98 (574), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA May 31, 2007 Sampled at the brewery in beautiful Maui. Very tasty flavors of malt and sweetness in the finish. I like this style.
