3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Pours with a murky to muddy, deep bronze to reddish-brown hued body with a large off-white head. Great lace. Aromas are strong, almost zesty with bright passionfruit. Lightly earthy plum, low cherry. Some earthy almost tannic notes in the background. Medium malt (straw, nutty, biscuit). Low esters, low hops (although that could be the passionfruit). Flavors are malty, lightly sweet, low acidity, strong cherry (much stronger than the aroma), tannin, passionfruit (much lower than the aroma), bready, medium to slightly stronger than expected bitterness, malt/fruit balance overall, low tannin, light tea. Medium to lively bubbles, slightly fuller body than expected. I could see this being used in the new "beer mixology scene". Good fruit beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - Pours a cloudy amber-brown color with a finger of frothy tannish head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet light toasted caramel malts with some sweet cherries, some tropical and citrus hops, passion fruit, and a bit of bready malts.
T - Starts off with some sweet cherries and some sweet caramel malts with some tropical hops. Through the middle, some more bready malts come through with more citrus and tropical hop flavor and some passion fruit. The finish is a mix of sweet caramel malts, with some tropical fruits, cherries, and some light bready malts.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and fruity finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice fruity red amber ale. Not quite perfectly balanced, but the blend of amber ale and tropical fruits works fairly well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz can. Pours hazy brown with a medium off-white head that collapses quickly into a collar. Aroma is fruity--I definitely smell the passionfruit; cherries possibly. Taste is lightly sweet, lightly tart and dry. After a nice belch, piney hops are noticeable; they are undetectable without the belch. Body seems a little thin. Unique for a fruit beer.

Can from Beer Run. Pours a hazy brown color with a large brown foamy head. Decent head retention. Aroma of earth, cherries, chocolate, faint tropical notes. The taste is earthy, herbal, almost fishy, brown malts, cherries, citrus, umami. Medium bodied. Interesting beer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2012 12 oz. can. Pours a deep burgundy with a decent sized light tan head with pinkish tints that dissipates quickly. Nose is earthy with a touch of roast, faint cherry notes, and hints of pineapple as well. The flavor is quite bizarre, with more earthen bark and twig, slightly tart cherry, touches of coffee and plum, and a strange cottony dryness to the finish on the mouthfeel. I feel like there’s a bit too much going on; I like how unique it is, but I would appreciate the fruit content so much more if the grist and hop bill were a bit less complex (see Selin’s Grove, New Glarus, etc.) Still interesting, but not super tasty.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Pours a dark hazy reddish amber, dizzy off white head. Dry fruits (tropical and red cherry skins), suprisingly not sweet, mild earthy malts, and slightly tart. Interesting and refreshing, but I don’t think I would want to try it again.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
8 oz sample on tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is pretty sweet, with an underlying mustiness present. Light caramel, toffee, and even some buttery diacetyl is also present. Mostly hazy murky orange to brown body with a small off yellow head present. Kind of ugly. Starts a little, sweet before this becomes roasted with almost a coffee character. Lightly astringent with restrained tartness. Almost an underlying herbal hoppiness. A very interesting and unique beer. It’s growing on me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can from Bevmo. It pours a copper color with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is strong with earthy, dusty yeast and modest amounts of tropical fruit and cherries. It has some hints of metal with a distinct "red ale" malt quality. The flavor is similarly earthy with the yeast and fruit taking center stage. The fruit is not overused and adds some nice depth of flavor. Theres a rustic, woody bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Very interesting and enjoyable, but not an everyday beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the Can poured into a snifter. It is a hazy glowing orange with a small off white head. I get some of the passion fruit on the nose, but the cherries don’t arrive until the taste. I wish there was more cherry though, passion fruit subdues it a little. A little tart, and not bad at all.
