COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This red ale, brewed with Liliko’l and Michigan cherries is ruby red in color, tart and refershing in flavor. Working with Ron is something I’ve wanted to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin Beer. Years later its a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer. Aloha, John Walsh.
Yes, Michigan and Hawai’i are connected. It should be obvious to you know, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states. Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries & Lilko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but not our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! - Ron Jeffries

355ml can from Ferris! Thanks! Hazy pour, caramel gold with a bit of a reddish tinge. Thin white cap with pour retention. Nose has some caramel with a bit of fruitiness. Taste is rather dry up front, a bit of sour cherry, some wheaty notes. Light tangy finish. Quite carbonated, lightish body. Overall its refreshing, but not something I’d need to revisit. I absolutely loved the Jolly Pumpkin version of this beer, but this is not as complex.

Ale alla frutta delle Hawai. Colore tonaca da frate e schiuma beige. Al naso spuntano note di caramello e vino cotto. In bocca bilanciatura tendente all’acido-dolce con corpo medio. Il sapore leggermente ferroso e di frutta acidita ricorda una sour ale. Finale poco persistente ed anonimo. Almeno la lattina č bella per chi fa la colezione. Forse questa birra nella sua terra d’origine č tutta un altra cosa. Sconsigliata!

Karamellszínű főzet, két gyártó együttműködésének gyümölcse a szó legszorosabb értelmében is, amennyiben a felhasznált alapanyagokat tekintjük.

"Drank one a little too warm. A tiny but of tartness, obvious biscuit malt and cherries, and not much in the way of passion fruit. Will add when I have one cold. Cool beer though.Tasted the same colder. Good, not quite up to the awesomeness I was hoping for from these two."

THOUGHTS: The aroma was a little weak. I could taste and smell the cherries, but I couldn’t seem to find the passion fruit in the flavor until the bottom of the can was poured into the glass. That action also made it more sour. TECHNICAL: Drank 3/23/2013. Can. Poured a dark, copper that was slightly reddish in the right light with a small to average, tan head. The last pour from the can was more of a muddy, light brown. The aroma was nice but weak and contained light caramel malt, both sweet and sour cherries, passion fruit, tropical fruit and other sour fruit. The initial flavor was slightly sweet and acidic and lightly sour; while the finish was moderately sweet and sour, lightly acidic and slightly acetic. There was caramel, cherry, sour cherry. other sour fruit, some citrus once the bottom of the can was poured and some sour orange juice. The medium body was a little dry with quite fizzy carbonation and a dry and moderately astringent finish.

Red-brown with a tan head. Fruity aromas with cherries showing through. Light malt and hops, but a refreshing brew. Just a little hint of tartness. Refreshing summer brew.

0.355l can from what has to be Mikkeller & Friends. A cloudy kinda light bronze dark orange colored thing this with a big lasting and lacing off-white head. On the nose it’s both hoppy and fruity. I get red plums, sweet malty caramel, candied sweet sugar, some red berries like wild strawberries and sweet cherries in addition to lemonade. Interesting aroma, and it tastes even more interesting. Soft gliding oily mouthfeel with a really soft carbonation level. Quite red berry infused in the taste as well. Both strawberries, grass and more lemonade. Not lemons but more wet lemon zest. Mild muddy in a way also. Doesn’t taste bad in any way, but it’s quite a strange fruity a tad to sweet beer this. AH! It was cherries in this one! Knew it! It’s turning super muddy and murky in the last 1/3 of the can. Almost as much that I’m having issues drinking it, but tasting it it just tastes even better than it did initially. 31.01.2014
