Peanut butter. All around. Kind of mild up front but then it explodes. Overall a good showing. A few tweaks and it’ll be something special.

On tap at the brew pub in lahaina. Pours a dark amber with nice head and lacing. Aroma was something I haven’t found on Maui yet. Nice English hop aromas. Flavour is nicely bittered with a decent balance on the malt but leaves a bit to be desired. Not quite the greatest esb, but better than a lot of stuff brewed on the island.

Definite malt character, with nice bitter finish... Kind of a classic ESB, nothing remarkable, but enjoyable....

thirdeye11 (5549) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 12, 2011
(draught) clear gold with a thick creamy light tan head. Nose of caramel, florals, orange, chocolate malt (like the kind in a milkshake), and wheat. Taste of citrus zest, grass, caramel, cream and brown sugar. Pretty great esb.

bu11zeye (11942) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 10, 2011
(Draught) Pours a hazy amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma of orange, florals, tobacco, grass, and nuts. Flavor of orange, caramel, toffee, bread, and toasted grain.

Dogbrick (8141) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 7, 2010
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a medium creamy off-white head that diminishes steadily. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Equal parts hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of sweet bready malt, hops and a touch of fruit. The finish is malty up front with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent ESB overall.

Lagunitasfan (1313) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 29, 2010
On tap at O’Brien’s. Burnt tropical fruit nose and malty. Taste is bitter and light in the mouth. Burnt malt bitter. Funky, and not in the good way. Not a great beer.

Draft at Stone Bistro. Medium dark amber, off-white head. Cereal malts, fruit, light citrusy hops, and biscuits. A fine, drinkable beer.

yemenmocha (658) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - JAN 30, 2010
Enjoyed on draft at the brewery, winter 2010. Pours a beautiful copper with thin head. Nose has a pleasant toasty/biscuity character. The nice biscuity quality is present on the palate as well with some crisp hops to round it out nicely. I wish this was widely available in the can instead of their Big Swell IPA, and it would probably receive a wider range of customer enjoyment too.

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 10/20
Alphadelic (1751) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 18, 2009
Thick, murky orange/dark brown. Off white film of head. Mango and passionfruit aromas with tobacco and cereal hints. Sweet with an underlying cereal hit. Begins with crisp cereals fading into mellow ripe fruit thickness. Very tropical, POG. Balanced but doesn’t leave you with too much to think about. Bitter green foliage notes are a flash in the pan toward the end. Thick and smooth, a little cloying. Tasty but hollow. Interesting flavours that fail to really arouse anything special. Worth a go but not necessarily worth a commitment.
