Bottle at home from waitrose, thanks to Sarah for picking this one up. Opaque black coloured pour with a nice compact light tan head that hades to a halo. Aroma is sweet caramel, nutty malts with a little dirty ashy edge. Considerable berry fruits on the nose as well. Later there is some soapy notes. Flavour is rounded milky lactose sweetness, caramel and chocolatey roast. English yeast with fruity berry esers. Palate is nice and rounded pretty full bodied, pretty milky sweet. Nice rounded stout.

Smooth and mellow. Sweet chocolate roast malty throughout; leading to a drying finish. Very drinkable. Nice Stout!

light caramel and malty aroma, total dark colour with brown head which falls in half minute. medium sweetness, medium bitterness, sweet bitter symphony i can say first caramel sweetness coming to bitterness in the end which are in balance. full body, slick feel, average carbonation, very full stout, i thing after two would be under table, but brilliant taste

12 Apr 2012: hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons. Black as the ace of spades with very little head showing, this looked a mean brew. The aroma given off was of roasted, slightly burnt malts with a nutty feel (like an over cooked nut roast, that veggie’s eat). Sweeter in the mouth than the nose: some caramel hints in with the malty nut roast. Deep and thick bodied, couldn’t call it ‘rich’ or ‘creamy’, but certainly had a depth of flavour. An OK Stout.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2012 (cask @ Victoria Station- Wetherspoon). God bless roasted malt . I missed my train home accidently on purpose so I could down several pints of this suave ,smooth black liquid . I was content to wait . This beer was vibrant , it spoke to my senses the refreshing simplicity and beauty of cask beer , especially the merits to a stout .This black liquid is living and wants to screw you. There is generous amounts of smooth roasted malt benefits ..coffee ,roasty bitterness. dark chocolate notes ...rather winey and raisiny . Lovely dry finish that twists your arm and makes you buy another . Excellent!!!!

Cask @ JDW Inverness...Only brief notes here.....
Very dark brown black, tan head....Aroma of roasted malts...Taste of deep roasted malt, touch of burnt wood, dark malts, bit of dark toffee, rich soft burnt flavour. Palate - soft carb, medium body. Finish - quite a complex rich roast malt finish.
