Dark brown, lots of blackberry on the nose. Sweet dark malts and light brown sugars, and lots of blackberry.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 17 April 2013. Poured a very dark ruby, near black with a tan head and some lacing. Strong berry aroma with some liquorice and dark malt. Flavour was off balance with too much blackberry sweetness, which was Ribena-esque. This masked the roasted malt and dark fruit flavours, which were more to the fore in the palate.

Nch Beer Fest. Very dark brown. Blackberries punching you in the face with their sweet, slightly acidic bobbly fists. The tartness complement the roast malts surprisingly well, making this a nice change of pace from other porters.

Cask @ Back of Beyond. Aroma is all blackberry. Deep black, tight head. Flavour is yet more blackberry, some sweetness, light bitterness. More a dark, boozy, blackberry drink than a porter, but wonderfully drinkable. Like this one.

Cask at The White Swan, Solihull. Poured a very dark mahogany with a reddish hue and a thick tan head. The aroma was fruity and of course dominated by those blackberries! The flavour is is rich, and earthy, with dark chocolate and lots of blackberry on the palate. It’s medium bitter and the fruit does not dominate. This is a very unusual and tasty ale. I’m surprised the ratings are not better.

Cask by handpump at Sir John Moore, Glasgow - clear very dark brown near black, medium tan head, strong berry fruit and malty aroma, intermittent lacing, blackberry flavour, somewhat bitter for a porter, dry fruity finish

Cask at the Lawrence Sheriff, Rugby, 17/04/13. Light black with a thin tan head formed of small bubbles. Nose is dark malt, strawberry liqourice, berry fruits, sugars, bubblegum. Taste is blackberry forward, light roast malt, molasses, liqourice, artificial sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweetish finish with lingering berry fruit. Ok - a little OTT on the blackberry front, akin to dumping a large amount of sweet blackberry cordial into the beer, the balance good have been better with more subtle fruit flavours.
