Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Amber to gold with white head. A reasonable enough Best Bitter with a chunky, yeasty malt body, some fruitiness then a dusty, slightly crisp hop. Decent.

Pours an inviting golden amber, & the nose is grand, nice & punchy, with honey, banana & some maltiness. On the palate nice & clean with a nice bit of weight, that lovely fruity character is there, ever so sweet pineapple & notes of banana again but with a nice zippy hint of citrus & bitterness. Pleasing finish of slight bitterness & malt. Grand quaffer

DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 11, 2009
The Narborough Arms, Narborough. Dirty gold slicked with white, low carb slipperiness in the mouth. Casky aroma with leather, spumante, cinder toffee. Fruity and sweetish with toffee apple, peardrop and cask notes becoming drier in the finish. Slight grassy hops and bread. A bit odd, but pleasant enough.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Ranelagh. Clean amber brown with a thin but stable white head and plenty of lacing. Faint bready malt and grassy hop aroma with a lick of spice. Similar flavour but the hops become more floral and the malt gives a bit of caramel. Faintly bitter finish with a slight medicinal note. Nothing special.

Bottle. Amber, moderate white head and gentle condition. Low hop and caramel aromas, soft sweet malt and low flowery hop in the mouth and a developing hop bitterness over gentle sweetness in the finish.

Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2007
Cask conditioned @ SouthWestern Arms, Soton. As others have commented not really gold - it was a shade darker than the Hartleys XB (a traditional bitter colour) I had before it. Slightly juicy peppery hops with lots of heavy malt. Hints of toffee in the mouth and sweet malts. Hops return with light bitter bite in the finish after disappearing fairly quickly. Lack of hops in the middle of the beer and the overly heavy malts spoilt this for me.

Hand pulled at the Bartons Arms, Birmingham. Dark gold, with a fast dissapating head. Sweet beginning turns to a slightly murky metal tang, with a smudge of choc. Slippery and fairly dense. Reasonable, but lacks sparkle.

Cask at Out of the Vaults, Lecester, RB crawl 2005. Amberish bitter, scant head, very average, just enough malt action to prevent it from being anonymous but no great shakes.

Cask Conditioned & on Hand pump at The Alex in Derby on the 22nd Jan 2005 No Sparkler Mid coppery brown colour (as chris_o says, odd as it’s called "gold") Nice & bitter & dry. Hoppy, bready but a bit bland in the finish...

Not very gold - more amber in colour. And quite malty. The malt is rather doughy and underdeveloped. Some hop bite coming through towards the finish. Respectable, but not very exciting. Cask (gravity dispense) at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival 2005.
