This premium full bodied bitter is light in colour, has a powerful bouquet of hops and a developed dry fruit finish.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Brownish amber. Strong earthy, grassy and almondy aroma with touches of wood and peat. Dry earthy flavour with notes of dark chocolate, toffee and red apples. Rather full and robust body. Long dry, bitter aftertaste of soil, nuts and salt. Very nice full-bodied and tasty bitter served in perfect condition.

I didnt rate this beer too well. It’s a bit hoppy and malty but incredibly sour and the mouthfeel isnt wonderful. Fairly golden. Not the best.

rauchbier (3637) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUL 2, 2005
Bottle conditioned, courtesy of John White. Hazy gold, good lasting white head and low condition. Gentle sweet yeast and fruity malt aromas, quite thin and dry in the mouth with a touch of graininess, a low hop note and a vague suggestion of mustiness. Short and slightly yeasty in the finish.

Deep ruby red colour. The aroma is malty and a bit bready. Fruit leads on the palate, with some hops coming through in the middle. However, it falls away at the end into a soft, somewhat unassertive finish. Not bad, but not exceptional. Everything about this is a bit restrained and made no great impression on me. Cask (gravity), Catford Beer Festival.

Cask Conditioned, at the Catford Beer Festival, 2004.
Deep amber colour strong alcohol flavour. Strong bitterness and decent flavour. This beer was the first to stand out in the dull crowd.
