DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2012
Bottle off Helen and Keith. Bronze-gold with a fine, well-retained white foam. Very English, Bateman’s-esque aroma with a soft, aniseed-like rub of hop and hints of toffee, butter and spiced apple. Full and soft with a dominant almond and aniseed spiciness; hints of chalk and cream, a stir of Twiglet. Well-brewed, inoffensively bland bitter with a strong lager-like almond presence.

500 ml bottle. Grays, England.
Clear deep golden colour with tiny off-white head. Tree roots, plant litter, mild English hops and some sweetness in aroma. Wood, peanut peels, some mild bitterness, malt and some sweetness in flavour. Waterish. Sweetness fades bitterness in aftertaste. Interesting not necessarily very tasty though.

Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Medium, mostly lasting off-white hea. Slight haze but an otherwise bright orange body. A hint of passion fruit on the nose with peach and tangerine notes. Peach & orange sweetness in the mouth with a bit of a toasty malt bitterness backed by undertones of bread & biscuit. A crisp, dryish hop palate precedes the biscuity malt sweetness. Moderate bitterness and duration.

Good beer - nicely balanced, some sweetness but a good bitter finish, a little fruitiness with some hints of bread and a good, full, body.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Golden pour withb a foamy, white head. Sharp, baked malts on the nose. Lightly sweet flavor, oddly smokey, lightly, with hints of ham and band-aids. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Modestly sweet finish, some bread and crisp malts, faint bitterness. I can dig it.

A very light ale, slighty fruity with quite a bitterish hop finish. Just a whisper of smoke. Inoffensive and easy to drink.

Cask Conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. A darker gold coloured beer with a white head and lacing. A fruity beer with sweet light berry notes. A bit of leafy hop. Drinkable enough but probably too sweet.
