xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Apr 10, 2009 2008 vintage. Clear red with small amber head. Spicey, sweet, orange fruit, a little sour, bitter grapefruit. Really sweet flavor, spice, grapefruit, orange, citrus, yeast, sour fruit (not intentional, I’m sure). Mediu with fizzy body. Cloying with spice and unintentional sourness. 1010 (206), Marysville, Ohio, USA Apr 5, 2009 Pours an amber brown with a little cloudiness and a thin head. Heavy spice aroma and taste. Really powerful orange and cinnamon. Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Mar 17, 2009 Nice nose, good spices, odd palate. A curious little beer that offers some nice flavors and a good holiday drinking experience. Thanks Skyview. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Mar 4, 2009 Another from Skyview. Some malt. I expected more spice, and there is a little, but mostly very light cinnamon and a little citrus. Brown color. MatSciGuy (627), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Feb 26, 2009 [Bottle] shared by Skyview. Pours a clear brown with a scant beige head. Aroma is lots of spices. The cinnamon, caramel, and orange definitely show up on the nose. The mouthfeel is quite thin with little carbonation. The flavor has lots of spices and a little bit of fruity yeast. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Feb 25, 2009 From 22-oz bomber, received from Secret Santa ’08, pours a dark copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring and film top. Spotty lacing on glass side. Aroma of candi sugar, orange jelly, a hint of honey, cinnamon and caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of holiday spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, a hint of caramel malt, flowery hops and some orange zest. Finish is semi-sweet is a fruity aftertaste that slowly disappears. DeweyDell (155), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 25, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a pretty dark orange color with a thin off-white head. Nice aroma... sweet (almost mead-like, definite honey presence) and slightly minty (?) The taste is a little bland at first, but it gets better as it warms up... mainly caramel malts and your standard holiday spices. Reminds me of a watery Great Lakes Christmas Ale. =( Decent, the price is right, but I’d probably never buy it again. DrHomolka (725), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 25, 2009 Bomber. Pours a dark ruby color with a small off-white head. Aroma shows cinnamon and ginger, moderately spicy. Reminiscent of Great Lakes Christmas ale. Slight orange and candy aroma, Skittles noted. Not as good of an aroma as many others in this category, though it is not bad. Flavor is mildy spicy, more of a mint flavor, medium bodied, lowly bitter with subdued sweetness. Decently balanced throughout. I am not really a fan of these types of beers - at all really - but this is a passable attempt. Okay.
