Boasting the essence of grapefruit and citrus, aromatic Citra hops make this ale dangerously drinkable on a warm day, but always a good choice year round.

on tap at Maumee Bay brewpub in Toledo. This APA is a deep amber color, probably a little darker than average, and has plenty of hop aroma and flavor. The hop component smells primarily of citrus but tastes more herbal and piney. There’s a malt base in both the nose and the flavor, but this is a hop-forward APA, and turns moderately bitter by the finish. Medium-light carbonation with a medium body. O: this APA leans quite a bit in the direction of an IPA, and could pass for one.

Poured on draft. Appearance is a hazy copper with a white head of foam. Aroma is citrus and zesty with a nice wheaty, yeasty background. Taste is sweet and a little bit bitter in the finish.

On tap at the Oliver House part of Maumee Bay on our way to RBSG. Pours a lightly hazed orange amber. Light hops, crisp mat and caramel. Medium bodied, little bit sweet with a slightly off flavor. Earthy with some juicy hops and malt. Sweet finish with some grapefruit.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden colored body with a thin, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is heavy grapefruit and some earth with a bit of a dirty sock smell, although not offensive. Some caramel and a sweeter crystal offer a decent malt backing. Flavor is similar. Dirty sock grapefruit earth with a light floral. Solid caramel and crystal backing for a nice malt balance. Finishes dry with a moderate bitterness, light malt sweetness, and touch of grapefruit citrus. Medium length aftertaste following a medium-thin body and light carbonation. Overall, a decent pale ale. Fairly well hopped, but a bit funky with a solid caramel and crystal balance. If the hops were a bit different or more complex, this could be better.

Part of sampler at brewpub. Pours clear golden with white head. Aromas of malts and hops. Flavors of pale malts, light citrus, and light hops. Kinda of malty pale. Mouthfeel was a little thin. Average at best.
