Bottle poured a cloudy amber with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of bread, earthiness, grapefruit zest, orange zest and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness, orange zest and grapefruit with a crisp dry lingering bitter citrus finish.

Reviewed from notes. Thanks to Ryan for the bottle. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance had a hazy orange to light ruddy yellowish brown color. There’s a light glossy white foamy lacing trying to stick but sliding for the most part. The smell had a slight pine to citrus to grassiness trying to have a delicate grapefruit but really stays towards the pine. The taste was bittersweet pine/sweet citrus with a misleading spice that I’m unsure where it came from because I didn’t get any of that in the smell. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there but not as sharp as expected for the style. This one comes across smoother than expected. Overall, mainly a good AIPA but almost doesn’t have enough sharpness in the palate/mouthfeel.

on tap at Maumee Bay brewpub in Toledo. This is a deep orangish-amber color. with a bone-colored head of moderate size and excellent duration. Overly bitter given the levels of hop-based aromatics and flavors. Hop component features earthy and piney notes. Medium-light carbonation with a medium body.

Pailhead (4755) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JUL 14, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of light caramel and faint grapefruit. The aroma is rather light. It pours a hazy dark orange with a one finger off-white head that quickly fades to a thin soapy outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with light-moderate caramel and a hint of fruit. The finish has mild grapefruit hops. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, it’s a pretty tame IPA that comes across more like an American Pale Ale.

From a bottle. Very tasty. Not overly rich or boozy. Quite fresh and hoppy, a little over the top, but good while I’m in the mood.

On tap 4 oz. sampler at the Maumee Bay Brew Pub in Toledo, OH. Hazy, medium amber with a small off-white head and fair lacing. Muted aroma of caramel, citrus, and mild floral hops. Taste of floral hops, caramel and citrus. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. A pedestrian IPA that offends by trying to be too inoffensive. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
