3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Capa (1543) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2011
Hazy orange caramel color with a large head. Aroma is resinous hops, molasses malt, light citrus, and earthy hops. Medium, smooth body. Flavor has citrus and light pine hops, a bit of sweet malts. Not bad but nothing to write home about.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 milewide (1021) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 26, 2011
Unfiltered, which I like, bronze color. Medium body. Hops in aroma and taste, but both light compared to the best IPAs.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Onslow (639) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - OCT 7, 2011
Pour from a 22 oz bottle. Slightly cloudy amber brew with off white head. Nice aroma dominated by citrus and pine hops. Taste is mild malts with much less hoppiness than expected (based on the aroma). Some citrus and pine hops, but rather subdued. Very nicely balanced finish. A little soapy in the finish. Overal, a good IPA that could use just a bit more hops, but very enjoyable.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 lithy (2913) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2011
This was just not very good. An amber orange with an off white foam. The aroma lacked much of anything to describe. A bit of herbal hoppiness. The taste was just kind of there. Some caramel, some hops, light bitter. It just didn’t come together. That said, it was at least at the far bottom end of being able to tell it was an IPA. Unlike some beers that have been absolute disasters, this was merely a letdown.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - SEP 2, 2011
Bomber from Belmont Party Supply. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, earthy hops, some citrus. The taste is big citrus hops with a bit of a resiny note and some caramel malts. Medium bodied. Decent IPA.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JaBier (2999) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - AUG 28, 2011
Bottle shared by a friend. Clear amber pour with a thick off-white head. Malty and grassy nose with some earthy hops. Malty flavor up front, giving way to piney hops before a grassy finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hayduke (2445) - Eureka, California, USA - JUL 18, 2011
Courtesy of Strykzone via a trade. Poured clear gold with an off white head and light lacing. Nose is hops with citrus, flowers, and pine one top of caramel malts. The body is medium and the mouthfeel clean and smooth. The favor is solid American IPA, with citrus taste and the finish is dry and bitter as an IPA should be. Solid example of the style, with no real flaws.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 13, 2011
22 oz. bottle shared by STLWill- thanks, Will! Pours a cloudy orange-gold with a rocky white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, sweet malts, apricot, lots of bread dough, and a faint note of plastic. Flavor of citrus, sweet malts, apricot, booze, wood, and a hint of soap. Neither of those last notes were enough to throw it off the rails but kept it from being better. Light-medium bodied, with a bitter, bready, citrusy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Unique IPA.
