Lighter aroma for an imperial. Roasted nut malt and bitter shell scent. Thick black color and tan brown head. A touch of bitter hops and malts. Some sweet molasses. Tap

Bottle. Nose deep dark roast and chocolate, perhaps chicory, but importantly dry and a little brutal despite the milk tones. Pour is black but not utterly dense and murky, with a somewhat rocky light brown head. Taste is much sweeter than expected, somewhat high on that scale, with medium bitterness to help balance somewhat and too-strong alcohol that leaks out and adds a bit of heat to the sugar. Some nice burnt and scorched notes, just a little bit of espresso but not heavy on the coffee, and medium-strong plum and grape, which was a nice surprise. Body is obese but not silken or swishable, sort of flat and heavy. Some light grainy-glassine notes (referring to unmilled, shiny caramel malt berry) and light meatier touch. Nice but not spectacular. [2016.08.15: 3.4]

Bottle from Cappy’s on the recommendation of one of the employees. Dark pour with small brown head. Coffee-forward, with chocolate, licorice, and roast. On the thick, sweet and syrupy side of things, with clear roast bitter finish. Full body, soft carbonation, syrupy texture. Overall: decent.

black with thin tan ring. Oat and cocoa nose, dark with heavy grain presence. Soft brownie dark chocolate, thin prune sweetness all over. Finishes sweet, too much sugar in raisin through finish, sticky.

Poured a deep dark brown with a beige head. Aroma was of big coffee in the nose and chocolate and roast. Taste was similar, really smooth and not acrid at all. A great coffee stout.
