Maumee Bay Willys Wheat

Sample at the brewpub: Clear dark gold color with a minimal white head and sparse lacing. Wheat aroma is difficult to detect but it is there, along with a bit of bubblegum. Light and clean mouthfeel with wheat and hops flavors, along with a fair amount of malt backbone. The finish is wheaty and lingering. Actually pretty good.

draft - The aroma is virtually nonexistent. I think I smelled a trace of malt. The flavor is malty and very light. The mouthfeel is thin and the finish is clean. That’s about all I can say for it. This is not an impressive American Wheat.

Editorial, Ok I just don’t get this style. Light straw color with a wispy, foamy white head. Mild malt and wheat sweetness. Light dry, honeylike, finish. Seems like a waste of yeast to me.
