COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black and velvety smooth, Max Black is a dark lager with a rich chocolate-like malt character. A delicate Mt. Hood hops finish balances this medium-to-full-bodied beer. IBU 40 ABV 5.2% O.G. 13.8º Plato

Draft. Brown/black pour. Aroma of watered down roasted malts, coffee, some smoke. Taste is light sweetness with a decent hop bite and some roast. Ok.

Dark pour, nice head and really good lacing. Funky aroma...lagerish and a bit unpleasant. Lots of chocolate flavor, obviously...was described by the bartender as a chocolate lager. Some sourlike lactic flavor, which I hate. Okay.

Tap. Dark brown / black color. Aroma of roast. Flavor of woody hop. Finishes with a big roasted grain character. Light bodied. Hints of bubblegum hidden in the roast. Light bodied.

Black pour with creamy tan head and lace. Light chocolate and coffee. Chocolate, roasted malt, with a good malt bitter. A tad thin but good carbonation.

Tap at pub. Appearance was very dark black and clearish, light beige head. Aroma is of light roasted malt and mild bitter notes. Taste is pretty tame. Not too roasty, not too bitter, just middle of the road. Balance was a little strange as well. Body was medium. Overall, not a very memorable brew.

Faint roast aroma. Flavor is lightly roasty with a bit of caramel. Fairly clean. Black with brown at edges. Not bad. As it warmed, some faintly floral hops became evident, and the bitterness stepped up a bit as well.
