Dark brown, almost black. Little head and full bodied. The fire brewed woody aroma is more noticeable is this beer than others from Max Lagers. Very sweet, carmalized and chocolate malts. A little coffee taste is detected as well. You can notice some hops on the aftertaste, but the balance is not quite right. Very average beer.

A mild stout, both in taste and alcohol. Not bad as a beer or a shwartzbeer, there’s chocolate here. Roasty and coffee-ish, even a hint of wood and smoke, but medium-thin mouthfeel. Also bleach from glass in nose. Malty sufficiently to be Quaffable.

Good defintely not great. Had some chocolate and coffee in the flavor to go with too much raisins. Way too watered down. Not my favorite, although its a schwarzbier, and how many quality schwarzbiers have you had in the US?

This beer looks and smells quite appealing. However, upon tasting it is quite bland and watery. There is hardly any body to it at all and it just sits there limp on the tongue.

Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - SEP 5, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2004 More like a dark amber in color than light black. That’s the nicest thing I can say about this stuff. Well, the pour was a bit creamy. This is a beer with an identity crisis. Light hop aroma. The taste is sweet with a burnt caramel thing going on. Slightly astringent and dry. Tastes a bit like plastic.
