Cask at Canalissimo festival, Bamberg. In krug, no head, pretty ugly, flat, and dull looking. Aroma is funky, sour, and off. The flavors are better but not by much. The mushroom character is mildly unpleasant. Is beyond rustic towards being rough, sour, and metallic. Disappointing condition.

Draught @ Max-Keller, Ampferbach, Bavaria, Germany 96138.

Served in Ceramic mug - unclear ? light to medium amber color with a small to average to large, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, light caramel and roasted, light toffee, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, caramel - toffee, hops, herbs notes, sharp. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100718]

From the barrel, gravity. Ceramic mug, but no real head. Muddy tan colour. Looks kinda rough. Faint aroma indicates a malt accent. Rustic character, with a delicate acidity backing up a nondescript malt character and slightly juicy hop accent. Not really the best example, but served from the barrel by the proprietor so what can you do?

Draught at Max-Keller, Ampferbach. Probably amber colour, small head. Floral nose. Medium sweet with well rounded mouthfeel. Nice and soft, rather fruity. Quite flavourful with unusual flavour of menthe and viola. Finishes with low-medium bitterness. Unusual, but I like it!

On draught at the Max-Keller, Ampferbach: Malty, a bit barnyardy to pig-styish aroma, creamy, firm foamy layer; sweetish-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; distinctive aroma of pigs in the short bitter finish. A really disgusting brew, very untypical for Franconia.........
