Fine aroma of caramel and dried fruit with a hint of milk chocolate. The taste changes everything. Upfront you get the caramel sweetness which is soon replaced by a harsh hop bitterness that lasts. Too harsh and unbalanced.

Clear dark amber, light brown lasting, lacing foam. Not that strong aroma, light caramel. Warm alcohol feeling, turning light caramel. Some earthy tones. (Velp 201506)

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought online @ Biernavigatie.nl Pours clear reddish brown with a thin off-white head. Lightly roasted malts and some hops fruitiness in the aroma. Sweet taste but with a bitter backgroundtaste which is very pleasant. Rather short finish but otherwise an okay bock, for a given value of bock.

Tap at the Wildeman, Amsterdam. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head and a little clingy lace. The aroma is sweet malt, yeast. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter with a big wood malt liquorice bitter light smoke palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Hazy brown with thin lacy head. Aroma of caramel and a touch of banana. Quite a smooth texture with only a fine carbonation. Initial caramel, cocoa, banana flavours are stopped in their tracks by a strange out of place bitterness. Feels like a clash. Out of balance.

Bottle 33cl. Hazy brown with a tiny off white top. Aroma not very complex, some yeast. Taste is bitter all over. It tastes more like IPA then bock. Not bad though.

33cl bottle @ home from Bert’s Bierhuis, Utrecht. Body is clear to opalescent, deep ruby, Head is big, creamy, off-white, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is floral, caramel, Aroma is roasted malt, herbs, licorice. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter. Finish is medium lasting moderated roasty light hoppy bitter with light caramelish sweetness. Medium body, slightly sticky texture, soft carbonation. Simple, fine bock, not too sweet.

Aroma of malt, caramel, hops, light spices. Flavour is moderate sweet with a nice bitter finish. Very hoppy for a Bock. Not being a fan of sweet Bocks, this is a welcome deviation from the style.
