Sample at the brewpub. Pours a murky copper-brown color with a medium thin beige head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel and earthy malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of peaty malt, caramel, dark fruit and a bit of hops. The finish is malty and has a caramel aftertaste. Decent overall.

Thick rich malty sweet flavor that balanced out well with crisp spicy hops. I am not a big fan of Scotch ales, but this one was not too bad. Generously boozy, but not too overpowering. Good rainy day brew.

Rich and malty up front with a clean hop finish. I would like a touch more of hops for a bit more balance, the sweetness overwhelmed a bit. A solid beer that gives a nice departure from the IPAs and pales.
