OldGrowth (1269), Cary, North Carolina, USA May 15, 2008 pint @ Sunset Grill. Good aroma, sweet. Corn, grass, seltzer. Pale golden yellow color, small head minor lacing. Bittersweet flavor, like aroma, though it gets a little citrus about it that I didn;t get in aroma. Lite body, lite creamy smooth mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Good brew, easy to drink. Liked the flavor as it rolled on my tongue.
kiefdog (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 12oz bottle from British Beer Company (Plymouth, MA). Pours a hazy caramel golden with a thin white head. Little lacing on the glass. Aroma is cinnamon, spice, nutmeg, some sweet malt. Interesting, overall. Flavor is much of the same with some sweet malt and hops profile on drinking. Generally light to medium body with a slightly bitter finish. willblake (1925), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2008 20080809 12oz bottle thanks to Frumpty. Clear gold, little head, nearly still in appearance. Aroma is extremely mild, crusty white bread, slight hay. Body is light, low eff. Mild grainy fruits, more white bread, lightly bitter to finish. Decent enough. Dickinsonbeer (2513), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Aug 6, 2008 Thanks to Frumpty for the 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear bright golden with low to med carbonation adn a modest white head which fades. Aroma is nice doughy bready pils malt which was a nice surprise with very light herbal hops- clean yeast makes it smell almost like a pilsner. Flavor is more ale-like with some fruity doughy yeastiness, light crackery malts, light herbal hops and a clean light finish- not much else going on but is to be expected for a golden ale. pretty good for the style- reminds me a bit of blue pt summer ale. Pours a clear, bubbly gold with hints of amber. There is a very short lived white head that dissipates completely leaving no lacing. Smell is mainly light grains with some sweet caramel malts, though the aromas are subdued all the way around. The taste is also subdued and has a more roasted malt flavor with some caramel sweetness as well. The mouthfeel is very crisp, clean and leaves only the slightest bitterness with a dry finish. This is definitely drinkable and would certainly make for a decent summer session brew.
