Commercial Description:
As the British Empire expanded, English brewers added extra hops to keep beer fresh for increasingly long sea voyages. The beer on board the Mayflower shared this trait. Mayflower IPA puts a descendant’s twist on this style, with a powerful hop profile balanced by plenty of malt character. We use the freshest hops from the Pacific Northwest to give this beer its distinct, piney flavor and delightful, fruity aroma.

(Draught) Pours a clear golden body with a small off-white head. Aroma of apricot, pineapple, and toasted malt. Flavor of mild citrusy/grassy hops and nicely golden biscuits.

pint at Sunset Grill. Good aroma, sweet. Fruity, Apricot, berry, toffee. Clean golden orange color, ok head, and lace. Bitter flavor, like aroma, but has a bitter streak, lemon/grassy. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter finish. Very nice ipa, this went down fast. The aroma was delightful. A nice one to have, well worth finding.

4/20/2008: Mayflower IPA has a clear, golden amber color with a lasting, foamy off-white head. The aroma and flavor both showcase the herbal, piney, and lightly citrusy hops. This beer has a noteable amount of bitterness that is slightly abrasive, but not too far out of balance or too intense. The bitterness is held in check by a decent level of biscuit malt that seems to have a really mild honey sweetness to it. The beer has aa medium body and is slightly oily on the palate. Overall Mayflower IPA is flavorful, balanced, and would make for a good sessionable IPA.

Pint (draught) at The Publick House in Brookline, MA. Rating #1 for this beer...
