As the British Empire expanded, English brewers added extra hops to keep beer fresh for increasingly long sea voyages. The beer on board the Mayflower shared this trait. Mayflower IPA puts a descendant’s twist on this style, with a powerful hop profile balanced by plenty of malt character. We use the freshest hops from the Pacific Northwest to give this beer its distinct, piney flavor and delightful, fruity aroma.

12oz bottle (thanks Josh for sharing a new IPA for me!). Poured a medium amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromsa of eartiness, floral with some citrus. Tastes of the same earthiness with again light citrus in there too.

Bottle from MtGoat. Thanks! Pours a dark mostly clear amber with a lasting beige head. Smell is earthy hops, and creamy sweetness that reminds me of a lot of Flossmoor Station IPAs, but with a bit of a buttery smell too. Taste is earthy, tea, bitter grapefruit and some mustiness and dark caramel like malt. Medium body and normal carbonation with a moderate bitterness to it in the finish. Pretty enjoyable in all and has a bit "darker" flavor than many IPAs I’ve had.

Moan and Dove. Pours a nice amber with a lasting off white head. aroma is typical cascade light citrus lemony and slight stale metallic with an ok caramel malt backbone. Flavor is malty and lightly sweet, grapefruit, light pine and citrus with lemon grass- and gets a bit earthy in the middle with an ok slightly metallic bitter finish.

On tap at Redbones. Light copper in color with some orange hues. Small off white head. Aroma of moderate citrus- grapefruit with some pine, and some biscuit and light toasted malts. Hops in the flavor are moderately assertive- grapefruit, some pine, over a full malt backbone for the style- moderate to aggressive bitterness. A solid IPA.

Short off white head produced little lacing over a somewhat hazy golden to brown brew. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus hit first with some hoppie undertones. Medium bodied with refreshing carbonation. The hops didn’t hit me in the first sip but a second try had a nice, if short, shot of the bitter hops. Somewhat sweet at the beginning with that lovely floral in the middle. Very refreshing. A brew that is great in its balance rather than any distinguishing feature.

Very nice IPA. I may be a bit inflated here. In any case, good strong hops on the nose and strong bitterness throughout. Good east coast IPA.
