COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One hundred years after the Mayflower landed at Plymouth, a new beer style emerged in England. Taking its cues from “Three Threads”, a bartender’s blend of three distinct ales, Porter became the beer of choice for 18th-century Londoners. Mayflower Porter embraces this history. This complex brew is smooth and full-flavored with notes of roasted coffee beans and bittersweet chocolate that will warm the palate all year long.

Nice dark color with good amount of head. Deep roasted malty flavor with hints of chocolate and smokiness. Excellent beer.

Bottle. This is a great porter at the price point. Nice big roasted flavour and a reasonable ABV for more than 1.

Bottle into pint glass. Thin tan head atop opaque mahogany. Toast and chocolate nose. In the mouth, classic porter profile -- dark roast, bittersweet chocolate, just the barest hint of sweet. Finishes with more chocolate and coffee notes with coffee after taste lingering for a good while. A very respectable offering in this class.

Bottle at Bukowski Tavern (Boston). Pitch black with no head and no lacing. Aroma: malt, vanilla, coffee and something salty (remind me of soya sauce?). Well balanced sweetness. Taste is of coffee, chocolate, malt, and vanilla. Medium to full bodied. Right on style.

Nice roasted malt flavor. Definitely has some flavors of a classic British pub ale. Sweet, some caramel malt, nut brown ale notes, and some bread. Not too bitter. Solid, but I still prefer the more robustly-flavored porters from Smuttynose and Ipswich.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2013. It pours deep brown with pretty much no head. The nose is mellow roast, earth, dark fruit, faint smoke, toast and light sesame. The taste is light toast, earth, roasty, dark fruit, light jamminess, decent bitterness, coffee and chocolate. Medium body and soft carbonation. A solid porter.

This porter tastes like burnt coffee and chocolate and has a little more of a bitter aftertaste than i typically enjoy. Its worth a try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at gbbf 2013. Caramel pour no head. Aroma is wood headgerow berry and light roast. Clean roast some manure. Berry esters. Pretty solid.

A nice brown body with a tan head that had some retention and a little lace. Aroma had a nice mix of roasted and chocolate malts as well as a nice smoke note. Flavor seemed well balanced, but leaned ever so slightly towards the sweet chocolate malts. Finish was smooth and slightly dry. It was light on the palate, but still enjoyable.
