Mayflower Summer Rye Ale is our first take on a summer beer. Low in alcohol, this beer combines rye spiciness with mild and fruity bitterness to provide a well-balanced and refreshing beverage for those hot summer days.

Light golden color, almost like a witbier.. Grassy hops, citrus, and spice in the aroma. Flavor is mild but clean and crisp, with more citrus and spice. Nothing overwhelming, but more flavor than you get in most summer beers while still nice and drinkable.

bought a 6 pack for the humid week. color is clear white with faint yellow, tons of bubbling but little head. the spicy rye aroma comes in strong with some light fruit sweetness like pears. taste is a crisp bitter. A success for a low abv summer lager

Sample at the brewer. bright hoiney color, very fruity almost like a Koelsch, fresh and not too much Rye impact. you could drink this pretty easy. not much head or lacing but it was a small glass.

Had at a party so I couldn’t describe the color. Had a very pilsner like taste. Had a spicy note with a dry finish. Had a nice crispiness and refreshing.

on tap at the Publick House brookline 07/08/11. Good aroma, tart, little yeast funk about it, rye give it a nice grabbing scent. Hazed golden yellow color, Minor lace. Light Sour flavor. Light body, thin smooth mouthfeel, dry finish, nice take on a summer beer. certainly would be nice as a lawnmower beer. always nice to have another Mayflower offering.

On tap at Deep Ellum - Allston, MA. In many ways, this was pushing what "session" beer is, because what came in the glass was almost "low alcohol" or a just a whisper of a beer. Faint spicy hop or rye aroma. Flavor was gently sweet and very light, but clean in flavor and at least somewhat expressive of a spicy malt bill. You can beat the flavored drinkability on a beer like this, though.

Draft @ Sunset Grill and Tap. Alston, MA. Hazy gold / yellow color. Smell of wheat and rye bread. Taste is much the same with some spice and light hop in the finish. Light bitterness. Pretty good flavor for a low ABV brew. Worth a try if you can find on draft.

Bottle pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma shows notes of spicy rye, doughy yeast, light citrus, and a touch of banana. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of peanut shell and a touch of earth. Overall body is moderate with a lightly bitter finish.

ohhh the buttery goodness, and so easy to drink, nice that they made it a mild ale instead of going gonzo on it. light brown/red color, taste is of buttered bread with some hop spice and floral notes. yum.
