3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at CBS Scene/Patriot Place, MA. Reviewed from notes. Consumed Feb 2, 2013.
The appearance has a dark black body with a half finger white head that concaved in the middle to leave clingy lacing along the pint glass.
The smell is roasty with some light coffee up front, but as it warmed the oatmeal came out.
The taste is basically the same as the previously mentioned flavors in the smell, however the oatmeal is more forward than the smell as it didn’t need to warm up as much to get that taste.
On the palate, its about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. A good dry bitter aftertaste and finish accompanied the mouthfeel.
Overall, this is a good oatmeal stout that I would come back to.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Poured almost black with reddish highlights. Thin tan head with no lace. Light aroma of oats, malt and coffee. Flavor is weaker than I hoped for. A bit of oatmeal, real light coffee and malts. Palate was thinner than I expected too. Kind of dry. A decent enough beer, just not what I was expecting.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 11/26/13. The pour is deep black with a modest short lasting brown head. Aromas of toasty dark malts, oatmeal, burnt sugar, mild sweetness, and some smoke. The body is medium. The taste is more akin to a Porter than an Oatmeal Stout with this rich toastiness and smokiness that accompanies a Porter but at the same time muted. If someone handed this to me blindly I might be convinced it is a Porter.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some oats, a little chocolate and coffee, some dough, and light bitterness. Flavor the same with a nice amount of roasted malts and coffee/chocolate. Average texture. A pretty good beer.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Full body, silky, as expected from so much oats, long on palate.
Moderatly bitter, enough to balance the abundant malt.
Toast, dates, alcohol flavors.
Very enjoyable, good way to finish a session.
