Pitch black beer with only a little reddish brown head. Roast flavor with hints of coffee and chocolate but not overpowering. Pretty drinkable and a solid overall beer.

Pours a dark brown from a bottle with a quickly disappearing minimal off-white head. Aroma is a chocolate ester, flavor is a slight dark chocolate with a little licorice. Palate is a little thin for a stout in my opinion. Okay beer.

Oatmeal stouts are my favorite style and this one doesn’t disappoint. The pour reveals a creamy brown head with good retention. The aroma is a spot on with molasses and chocolate notes present before every sip. Flavor-wise it is a great balance between the sweetness and the roasted characters of the malt. Overall a great brew.

Pours a deep burnt sienna with two fingers of khaki foam. Nose is oatmeal bread, sweet bakers cocoa and a hints of soft nutty coffee. Palate follows but is a touch thinner than expected. Wet oats, soft cocoa, bitter walnut, roasted grain, burnt toast. Soft dark and easy.

On tap at CBS Scene/Patriot Place, MA. Reviewed from notes. Consumed Feb 2, 2013. The appearance has a dark black body with a half finger white head that concaved in the middle to leave clingy lacing along the pint glass. The smell is roasty with some light coffee up front, but as it warmed the oatmeal came out. The taste is basically the same as the previously mentioned flavors in the smell, however the oatmeal is more forward than the smell as it didn’t need to warm up as much to get that taste. On the palate, its about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. A good dry bitter aftertaste and finish accompanied the mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good oatmeal stout that I would come back to.

12 oz. bottle. Poured almost black with reddish highlights. Thin tan head with no lace. Light aroma of oats, malt and coffee. Flavor is weaker than I hoped for. A bit of oatmeal, real light coffee and malts. Palate was thinner than I expected too. Kind of dry. A decent enough beer, just not what I was expecting.
