A robust Porter. Balance and restraint define this beer. It has a strong upfront coffee aroma, with a dark cocoa finish. Brewed with Oregon hops to balance the assertive roastiness. It drinks like a freshly brewed iced mocha; flawless and smooth.

This is a fine Porter. Perfect flavor, one of the best I have had in a long time.

Pours a reddish brown appearance with a lasting dark brown head. Smells quite nice. Dry, oaty/grainy nose with a moderate amount of chocolate and coffee. Some vanilla notes as well. Roasty and dry flavor. A bit of nuttiness. Low sweetness. Moderate bitterness. Pretty tasty.

Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. aromas of milk chocolate, roasted malt and light caramel. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, cocoa and light earthiness with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

On Tap at PreFunk, Boise. Clear dark brown with a small thin creamy light tan head. Plenty of light roast and some coffee in the aroma. Standard rostiness in the flavor, some coffee, not a lot and missing that sour tag that a lot of porters have. Smooth and softly carbonated. Very pleasant.

Nice dark, roasty, chocolaty, smooth porter. Dark, opaque brown with small beige creamy head. Aroma is equal parts coffee, chocolate and burnt toast. Taste is mild coffee bitterness up front, then some semi-sweet chocolate. Dry bitter finish.

On draught at Mazama Brewing. Color is very dark, slightly amber-hued brown. Aroma is cocoa nibs, tobacco, campfire roasted malts. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, caramel malt, light smoke, roasted malt. Very dry finish, with a long lingering semisweet chocolate and coffee aftertaste.

Growler from Hollywood Beverage in Portland. Colour...dark brown with a thick tan head. Nose...roasty with cocoa powder and dried filberts. Palate...smooth, yet dry like an Irish stout, the mouthfeel is thin with cocoa creme, devils food cake, black walnuts and Malt-o-Meal. With a name like "pyro clastic" I was expecting a thicker elixir, but still a dandy porter!

Mazama Brewery, Draft: DRY! Very dry. I liked it, it didn’t have overpowering sweet aftertaste like many porters have. Perfect carbonation and hop/malt balance. Not to thick...not too watery. This is good porter, the best I found in Corvallis. I would put up against a blind tasting of Deschutes Porter any day.
