Brown, good head. Not much aroma. A good toasty malt flavor followed by a finish reminding me of nuts - such as walnut or Brazil nuts. Very drinkable.

Pours a hazy and particle-filled reddish brown with a bubbly four finger head that slowly subsides. When I popped the cap on this one, good thing I had my glass handy because it foamed up like a bottle of champagne. Aroma is kinda one-dimensional... a little bit of scotch ale style caramel sweetness and some dark fruits lurking in the background. Not a very strong smelling beer. Taste is big sweet initial caramel, followed by raisins, and finishing with a throat warming, woody hop and ethanol finish. Body is medium-light and a bit sticky but lively carbonation saves this one from disaster. I’m a huge fan of the Houblon, but this is kinda disappointing.

Bottle. Pours amber/brown. Aroma of pear, dried dark fruits, sweet raspberry. Flavour of candied sugar, dried fruit and bitter hops. Mouth tingling and reasonably dry.

330mL bottle, pours reddish orange with a small head. Aroma of caramel malts, sweet candied sugar and light scotch. Flavour of sugary caramel and light scotch. Pretty standard, but solid scotch ale.

Bottle 33 cl from Drinks of the world. Poured reddish brown with tan head. Lots of dark dried fruits and brown sugar in aroma. Sweet, but quite alcoholic taste at first. Fortunately it turned out more better later on with some dark fruits dominating the flavour. Sweet brown sugary finish. Very pleasant brew.

20/05/2011 75cl bottle @ Eetkaffee Multatuli- BB: 20/07/13 (2011-219)

Little cloudy purple brown beer, light beige creamy head, bit stable and adhesive. Aroma: fruity, red berries, ripe fruits, but a bit faint to be honest. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: a little sweet in the start, but then turning fruity, sour berries. Aftertaste: slightly sour, raspberries, little bitter, some spices. The gnome disappointed me a little, here.

Questa è una birra che ormai si trova ovunque, anche gente che non capisce nulla ti parla di quanto è buona la birra dello gnomo...
