Pours dark brown with a thick white head. Aroma is quite nutty with hints of hops, alcohol, and lighter fruits. Flavor is a lot more balanced than I would have thought and has a strange texture of dark sugar, alcohol and toasted nuts. Quite smooth but for some reason I find it lacking.

20-nov-2010 33cl bottle at home. Dark brown color with big beige head, which is quite persistent. Very intense nutty taste, with a complex long finish. This is a very good beer!

Liked it a bit better than the La, spices and yeast still there, with a bit of added roast and somewhat of a liqourice flavour. Bit thin.

Never really put two and two together and realized this was a Belgian Scotch Ale. 750ml bottle, uncorked. Deep, chunky amber-brown. Steady rising effervescent carbonation. Creamy, thick, steady beige head. Sweet, pungent aroma, nuts, grapes, brown sugar. Sweet, rich and full-bodied. Some dark fruit notes, deep red plumb among the rich malt tones. Rather rich and intense up front, but finishes exceptionally smooth and clean. An all around awesome beer.

Deep brown pour with a gigantic, rocky, tan head. Complex aroma of figs, cocoa, nuts, leather, tobacco, alcohol, fall leaves, and soft peat. A lot of that aroma gets hidden in the flavor but it still has some nice warming layers of peat, caramel, cocoa, nuts and alcohol. Dry, medium body with plentiful carbonation.

Molto buona.

Sampled at Fall Gerryfest 2010. Pours brown, cloudy, opaque with a thin, light tan head that leaves a heavy lace on the glass. Aroma has chocolate, maple syrup, spices, grassy notes and a bit of alcohol. The flavour is very nutty, very chocolatey, some maple syrup, sweet malts, mild taste of funky yeast and fruitiness, and mild hop bitterness. Alcohol is also perceptible in the flavour, but barely so. The beer finishes somewhat dry. The mouthfeel is creamy, bubbly, and not too thick. Very good.
