4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 canicule (90) - IRELAND - MAY 9, 2010
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2010 Brown malty sweet moreish delicious. Aroma of raisins and dried fruits. Nicely balanced, very mild hop aftertaste. A bit of caramel too? A bit of whiskey in the alcohol taste, or just because I read it’s a Scotch Ale? :o) Good 8% beer, maybe like Golden Draak, but a bit weaker.

Bottle 750ml. Great beer. Aromas of grain, burnt caramel, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long lasting. Palate is velvety, and medium-to-full bodied. Brown, with a long-lasting frothy head.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jds170 (29) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 8, 2010
750 ml purchased at Vintage Estate. This pours a pretty, deep amber with a dense but pillowy tan head. Not strong on the aroma front, mostly alcohol, maybe a little caramel malt. Flavor is mostly malt with a little raisin, but much lighter than it has any right to be as a Scotch, due to the lively carbonation. Pretty good, but not completely my style.

App.: Murky, deep copper with a loose tan froth.

Palate: Medium body, soft, smooth effervescence.
Flav.: Quite fruity with lots of tropical fruits, much more bright fruitiness with some darker dried fruits, lots of sweet, playful malts, caramel and toffee, some lighter yeast notes, very little alcohol, an orgy of malt goodness; somewhat seet with little bitterness, a touch of booze and a light, malty finish.
Occchhh, is a bonny beer.

Taste is sweet too, a bit fruity. The finish is spicy and a bit alcoholic. Quite dry in the end. Lively carbonation. Very, very good
