3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good Belgian and somwhat unique. It seemed to have a mix of flavor profiles. The aroma was Belgian and bready. The color a cloudy brownish amber with particulates and a small fizzy head. The palate had a medium weight with higher carbonation. The first sips reminded me of an Abbey Dubbel mixed with a Scotch ale. It was still distinctly Belgian because of the yeast presence. Alcohol was somewhat present. Good but this brewery has done better.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Birra buonissima, peccato perda qualche punto all’aroma

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice solid strong belgian ale. The standard set - hazy dark brown colour, complex fruity and yeasty aroma. Slow sipper however drinkable, I definitely recommend going with 0.33 bottle.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle bought some place I don’t remember. Pours murky reddish brown with a rather small frothy and fizzy brown head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is malty, grainy and slightly fruity with biscuits, oatmeal cookies, banana, sour grapes, cereal, metal, hay and apple cider vinegar. Taste is sour and malty with dark bread, biscuits, sour grapes, hay, dry wood, cereal, red wine vinegar and hints of gastric acid. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, tart, tiny round and medium bodied. Finish is sour with biscuits, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, hay, cereal and soil. Not sure if it’s supposed to be this sour. A rather unbalanced oude bruin...

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bought a bottle at the supermarket. The beer has dark brown color and a cream colored white head, CO2 level is perfect. In the aroma tones of coffee, liquorice, brown sugar and some dark fruits. The taste is sweet and light with transitions to a heavy, syrupy molasses sweetness with a hint of bitterness. The finish gives you a warm feeling and leaves a taste of sweet drop. A really nice ale, but La Chouffe is better in my opinion.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Colour: amber gold, copper. Faint head
Nose: forest / dark fruits, caramelised sugar, dough (yeast?)
Flavours: maple syrup, brown sugar, apricot, apple. Hints of herbs and spices, but overall sweetness
Finish: long, but sticky sweet and malty
Verdict: fine beer, but too sweet for my taste.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from The Beerhive. Murky brown body with a medium tan head. Lively carbonation. Excellent lacing. Mild aroma of pear, wood, banana and spice. Flavour of red apple, raisin, prune and sweet malt. Medium body with an oily texture. Fizzy carbonation. A reasonable Belgian Ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Standard aromas of spice, caramel and alcohol with a dark fruit mix. Murky brown swamp water appearance. Sweet malty taste, a touch of yeast and a touch of hops. This only has hints of Belgian yeast to separate it from the strong ales from across the channel, although this is probably intentional given the name. Body has some bite, not a palate wrecker but not for sessions either.
