3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DuffMan (4241) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 15, 2006
Another excellent beer from Brasserie d’Achouffe! Deep red-brown, slightly hazy, massive tan crown leaving generous lace. Aromas of soft toffee, yeast, and leather. The palate leans toward sweetness without being cloying (in contrast to the Heineken Tarwebok I had earlier), and there is a fruity yeastiness behind the caramel malt and subtle sweet spices that make up the foundation of this beer. The alcohol is subtle and well-integrated. I’m not sure of this is because it isn’t true to the style, but I found this much more enjoyable than some of the other scotch ales I’ve had. Still, I liked the "La Chouffe" ale better.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hansen (4227) - Assentoft, DENMARK - AUG 30, 2004
Not as great as Chouffe N’ice, but still a real good ale,..why is it grouped as "A scotch ale"?? Dark and sweet, not as many aromas as expected, but still good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Svesse (4215) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 27, 2007
(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, rather cloudy, with firm beige head, Malty, fruity, slightly yeasty, nose with dried fruit (prunes, figs) and dark bread. Malty, fruity and spicy taste with dried fruit, liquorice and chocolate. Rather firm body. Nice beer with the traditional tasty, spicy Achouffe character giving it an extra push in the right direction.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 downender (4186) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 6, 2008
On tap at the Royal Oak, Bath 5/10/08. Cloudy mahogany colour with a big, frothy tan head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, dried fruit and dusty hops. Flavour had plenty of sweet malts, brown sugar, liquorice and a faint herbal tang, with a short, bitter finish. Very easy drinking for the ABV - good stuff.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUL 19, 2003
Rating number 400! This brew pored a vaery large creamy head of finely sized light brown bubbles that was mostly lasting. It has a softly carbonated semi transparent brown body and a heavenly malty aroma. Its mouthfeel is slightly tingly at first then fades into a noticeable mild alcohol burn as the flavor of spices, roasted caramel malts and vinuos alcohol notes kick in. Its mild kick starts to set in after just a few sips.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Grovlam (4106) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 24, 2007
Bottle [Tasting @ Per 23-02-2007]. Another implausible great beer at this evenings tasting. The head was huge fizzy and slightly off-white. Excellent lacing left behind. Body was surprisingly clear with a sparkling look and a dark amber hue. Aroma was light toasted, caramel, honey, spice, light chocolate, dry fruit, earth and notes of peat. Full bodied with a lively carbonation and maybe slight warming alcoholic texture. Super balanced flavor that kept shifting between sweet malty notes and bitter burned candies. How well balanced and at the same time complex.
