3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 badgerben (4092) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JUN 19, 2008
Dark brown color with a medium head. Very malty aroma. Dark, sweet malt taste. Lots of nuttiness and some toasted husk flavor. This definitely seemed more like the description on the bottle (brown ale) than a Scotch Ale.

Clear copper with a khaki head. Nice, but mild spice, herbal smell with a caramel sweetness. Full bodied and smooth. Taste is caramel sweet bread with some pit fruits. What i found here was not what i expected which is what i usually find in beers from d’achouffe. 5247

Poured a reddish brown amber with a large foamy lighter tan head that laced. Aroma was a bit spicy, a lighter roastiness, dark fruits and yeast. Flavor of the same with a light hint of citrus.

Dark brown with a moderate, though lasting tan head. Nose is yeasty and complex. Sweet fruit flavours develops into a dry finish with roasted notes. Mouthfeel is soft like velvet, medium body. Overall, a nicely balanced beer that should not upset anyone.

Big head on a dark coppery-brown liquid. Cloudiness depends on which part of the bottle you are pouring. Strong musty yeast and alcohol aroma. Cold, the alcohol is more pronounced. Drink closer to room temperature and the body and flavours stand out. Smooth and malty. Chocolate and toffee. Almost as delicious as La Chouffe. Thanks to TimE and Poperinge for these two.

Pours a rich, deep, hazed brown with a small tannish white head. Aroma of cinnamon or nutmeg, bittersweet chocolate, and some earthiness. More spice and earthiness on the tongue along with cocoa and slight citrus. Very good. Somewhat more warming than I expected for only 8.5%. Not overpowering, though. Finishes with a bitter spiciness remaining.
