3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ChainGangGuy (3682) - Canton, Georgia, USA - JUN 14, 2009
11 ounce goblet - $9.75 at Taco Mac in Buford, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours an opaque, dark brown body with a thin wisp of white froth on top.
Smell: Aroma replete with plenty of fruitiness and lightly wafting alcohol and notes of spice, dark bread, dark candi sugar, and maybe even some syrup as well.
Taste: Dark brown breadiness sweetened with dark candi sugar and a firm caramel flavor. Fruity additions of black cherry cola, figs, and red currants. Earthy, herbal hops with a medium-low bitterness. Dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. Light warming touches of alcohol. Renewed tastes of sweet breadiness, now with a touch of maple prior to the warming, semi-dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A reasonably pleasant, enjoyable ale, and, though the alcohol isn’t entirely hidden, it isn’t ever glaring, making for a relatively easy-drinking brew. Paired well with the rockin’ mid-90’s tunes playing at Taco Mac.

Bottle. Hazy deep ruby/copper, with a big head that slowly disappears. Earthy malty aroma, with yeast, some spicy hops and a little sweetness. Medium bodied, smooth but quite high carbonation. Very dry finish.

Looks like there"s a lawn gnome in a skirt (I mean kilt) on the front of the bottle. Light brown ale with very high carbonation, which doesn"t make for the greatest of mouthfeels. The aroma is light and somewhat floral. The flavor is mildy sweet, little nutty, and very floral (I think they used heather in this ale to give it a real ’Scottish’ flavor). Unique and easy to drink, but not something to rave about.

Draft. Pours reddish brown with an off white head. Malty and toasty aroma with some light sweetness. The flavor is malty, with toasted grains and a light sweetness. Good, not great.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (3590) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2010
Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a semi-clear brown with a large, off-white head. Good fruits in the nose, along with lightly roasted malts, booze and caramel. Sweet flavor, with great toffee, caramel, ripe fruit and scotch. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More sweetness in the finish, along with faint bitter notes. Good stuff.

In the bottle at the Red Monk during the 2006 Crescent Moon Beer Bus Trip. Brown in color with a fantastic long lingering chocolate and raisin aroma. This went over so well that the bartender had to say, "Everyone calm down...it’s just beer." Delicious plum and raisin flavor with a thick malty brown blanket. Delightful.
