3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GT2 (3428) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 25, 2009
750 mL into a tulip (what is a thistle). Pours a muddy brown with a one-two finger tan head with okay retention and spotty lacing. Lots of yeast particulate in the glass. Nose is Belgian candi sugar, mineral water, caramel malt. Taste is malty, a tad metallic, with a watery body and faint cinnamon spice with Belgian yeasty dryness coming in the finish. Not that great. Sort of watery and bland. Meh.

On tap at Beiaard. A sweet ale. Ruby-red colored. Spicy, peppery and quite full-bodied. But very enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JK (3398) - Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 10, 2006
Much more of a Belgian style rather than a Scotch ale, it is much like a quad or dubbel. The aroma has yeast, sweet fruit and malt. Very dark brown and a cloud of sediment. Sweet flavor that is best at room temperature. Some alcohol presence that may or may not show depending on how much you drink in any one sip. Full bodied. I would change the style on this one, but a good beer no matter what its called.

Rating 200. 750ml bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a small puffy tan head. The nose is malty and slightly sweet. The taste is really right on. It is sweet, malty and tangy with bits of caramel and a variety of malt flavors. Delicious.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3326) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JUL 4, 2005
Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma is fruity with a moderate apple presence, yeast, and a touch of caramel. Pours a somewhat transparent amber with an off-white head that lasts a minute or so. Lots of caramel with a hint of chocolate. Finishes lightly yeasty with some fruity tartness. Lively carbonation in the mouthfeel.
