11.2 oz bottle - Pours reddish brown with a moderately sized, foamy head. The aroma is sweet, yeasty, and has some caramel. The malty flavor has some good dark fruit notes hiding in there. It’s medium bodied and goes down easy at 8.5% abv. I hadn’t pegged this as a Scotch Ale as the Belgian character is definitely there. I suppose it’s a hybrid of sorts. Good beer.

Copper color with tan head. Malt aroma with notes of raisin and brown sugar.rather light bodied, with some taste (yeast?) I didn’t care for.

This is another beer in this sight that is mis-labeled. This is not a Scottish Ale., but anyway... This one pours a very nice dark brown color, with a big puffy tan head. Once it is poured you will see why this one gets tons of appearance points. It also has a very sweet chocolately aroma. Although it has basic flavors, it is still quite easy to drink, with lots of chocolate and cocoa in the flavor. Light to medium bodied in the mouthfeel with some nice dry roasted flavors in the finish.

Bottle. Fruity, estery pineapple-banana aroma with just a mild touch of caramel in the aroma. As this warms, a mildly chocolate and anise-like aroma starts to claim a small foothold. Smells very Belgian, but nothing like a scotch ale in my opinion. Mildly hazy amber/garnet body with a frothy off-yellow head and some nice lacing. Fruity pineapple/pear-like start, turning more yeast-like in the middle. I get lost of yeastly flavors, with some earthiness late. Mild woodsiness follows along with some scant roasted coffee flavors. Disappointing if you’re expecting a tradtional scotch ale outta this one...

Poured a reddish brown color with a nice initial head that laced well. Aroma was spicey, dark fruits, a bit medicinal. The flavor was of raisins, caramel malts, yeast, nuts, spices, and a touch of grass. Not your usual Belgian style beer, not a Scottish Ale. Not a great beer. Mouthfeel was moderately bodied with some carbonation. Overpriced beer for sure.

Draugt, at Delirium. Red brown with light browne head, mostly diminishing, modest lacings. Aroma moderate malty (spicy). Flavor moderate sweet, light bitter/acidic. Medium body, creamy, soft carbonated, the alcohol is felt.

Split a big bottle this with my wife at Volo. Dark brown, big beige head - looks nice in appropriate glassware. Aroma of spicy malt, but it is subtle. Mouthfeel is medium but well carbonated. Taste featured more spicy malt, but with more a dark fruit and floral characteristic than what I was expecting. Alcohol is there. A really wonderful beer.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2004 750 ML bottle, best before End 2006: Very subtle in all ways. I would never guess this is a 8.5% beer. Lacks any true direction or flavor besides its Belgian flavored yeast. I'm going with VENOM and wishing that I saved mine for a year or two.
