Dark brown, somewhat ruby red when held up to light with a thick white head. Aroma of pear, spices, hops and caramel. Taste has notes of brown sugar, yeast, pear, raisins, roasty malts, nuts, chocolate and spiciness. Pretty sweet. Alcohol content very well hidden. Medium body with lively carbonation. Not much lacking but good head retention. Good stuff.

Brown coloured beer with large rocky and creamy off-white head and lots of carbonation. Nice hoppy malty aroma. Full sparkling palate bit sweet. Finish is malty ending rather sweet and dry with a sticky touch.

750ml bottle. Fills the glass with a deep copper brown beer sitting under a cap of muddy white foam that settles quickly. Colour is plum skin with some stonefruit aroams of plum and nectarine along with some spice. Full flavour and creamy texture with hints of licorice on the palate. An easy to drink scotch ale.

750mL capped bottle. Dark brown pour with short lasting bubbly off-white head and very little lacing. Decent carbonation, good mouthfeel. Caramel malt and light hops make this a slightly sweet drinkable beer. Overall, quite decent.

Very dark brown/ruby. Large, dense, tan head. Aroma of bready yeast, grainy malt, earth, and subtle spice. For the flavor add some toasty notes. Dry, yeasty finish and aftertaste bring peat and dark fruits, a strange pair to arrive at the same time. Alcohol is evident in the palate, but not the taste. Full body is a little more carbonated than balanced. Let it sit for awhile. Very nice lacing. Definitely more flavor coming out as it approaches room temperature. Why do I even bother chilling them? Most of the good ones are a hell of a lot better at room temp. More peaty malt, dark fruit, and earthy, anise like spice in both flavor and aroma. Great brew. Now I’m looking for the Nice Chouffe, too bad it’s April.

Bottle. Was very unimpressed with this beer, considering the other offering from this brewer are very good to great.

11.2 oz bottle: This one opened with little evidence of carbonation, but poured with a fairly large head anyway. It died off rather quickly, however. It is a fairly opaqur brown color. The nose was nice, with notes of caramel, yestiness and fruits, although there was a slight hint of a peatiness. The taste has a bit of a roasty taste and dryness that wans’t expected. A bit of the peatiness in the taste also, as well a a bit of caramel and smokiness. Interesting...

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a pillowy head. Sweet aroma of caramel, prunes, figs and yeasty notes. The sweetness comes through in the flavour and is quite dominant. A solid beer overall.
