Bottle @ Home. Dark brown with ofwhite head. Nose is Belgian yeast, dark fruit, some caramel and bread notes. Taste is mostly sweet with caramel, sweet dark fruit, raisins, spices. Medium body, good mouthfeel, long lasting sweet / spices finish.

750 ml bottle purchased @ Ashur liquor. Created a dark opaque brown liquid topped by a creamy stout like head. The aroma has an old dead yeast and cardboard smell with some worthy notes of spice still. The flavor has some yeast and spice still and is actually good considering it has started to fall apart in its old age but its creamy texture and light touch of spices makes for a pleasant session.

Crushed with Jakebra. Kinda fruity nose. Mouthfeel: once again awesome. Flavor is very nice. Not getting much scotchiness, but the fruity flavors and dry finish make it very nice and yummy.

750 ml bottle picked up by my friend James. Interesting brew to be sure, like a cross between a Scotch Ale and a Belgian Strong Dark. Pours out a deep brown with a bubbly tan head that fades quickly into some thick lacing. Aroma is all over the road, featuring chocolate, belgian yeast, earthy hops, dark fruit. Flavor is just as spastic, with belgian yeast, brown sugar, peat, earthy hops, chocolate and dark fruit. This is a very strange beer, but I quite enjoyed it. Always nice to see brewers experimenting with hybrid styles.

(11.2 oz bottle ("best before end ’07") from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/ target=blank>Downeast Beverage Co.) Pours medium brown with medium biege head. Aroma of yeast, brown sugar and toffee. Not much lacing. Mouthfeel prickly, kind of thin. Tastes moderately sweet, brown sugar-ish, light banana. Definite Belgian characteristics from yeast. Don’t get the Scotch or peat characteristics like I normally think of with a Scotch ale but this was pretty enjoyable anyway. Flavor doesn’t really stand out, perhaps the most distinct characteristic is the prickliness.

750ml green bottle. Medium brown pour, head is foamy and large, quite creamy and off white in colour. Dark malts in aroma, roasty with a slight cola note, also traces of iron. Flavour was dark sweet malt with some roasted grains. Mild carbonation and medium body.

Bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured dark brown, slightly hazy, frothy tan head. Aroma was yeast and caramel malt. Flavor was on the maltier side with some fruity notes and some sweetness. Some alcohol warming. Light body and quite thin body. Drinkable, but not very interesting.
