A 330ml bottle dated best before September 2016 poured into a Chimay goblet. It poured a medium to dark brown with a slight reddish tint. One finger creamy tanned head with nice looking bubbles that dissipated slowly leaving nice stringy lacing. Main aromas of dark fruits of fig and raisins along with some pear and grapes. As it warms, the grape smell became really prominent. Strong tastes of dark candied fruits, plum, fig, grapes and raisins with hints of caramel and brown sugar. It was medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Overall, this was very good. Both the smell and flavours actually improve as it gets warmer. It is not too sweet and I especially enjoyed the dark fruit flavours. This is so close to being a must buy beer for me.

A true nectar packaged in a cozy chubby bottle of 330 ml of famous Moortgat! Liquid reddish brown color almost wine and cloudy and velvety body. Its foam is very light beige creamy consistency and high and long lasting slowly decreasing height. Let beautiful foam webs on the walls Tulip throughout the tasting. The aroma is sweet, very striking and delicious. Brings firsthand a delicate sense of raisins, blueberries and something candied fruit. Clearly I noticed a brown sugar, sweet toffee, baking and beautiful Floral Notes. Taste is overwhelming, but it’s not too long, a full-bodied and strong beer that permeates between sweetness and crisp. Its dry texture reveals the beginning of the roasted malt drink, mingled with a certain woody brown sugar, toffee, toasted nuts, but it takes then, and markedly, a citrus flavor with slight touch of hops mixed with spices and fine floral . It has high carbonation with a relatively liqueur body, a long heating in a bitter mild to medium being your good alcoholic finish, but that at no time compromises the whole. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy texture, lively carbonation. Relatively short dry end and equally bitter, roasted and fruity, which provides a good drinkability before its median complexity of flavors. An elegant and balanced drink between malt sweetness and the bitter end. A strong and commanding presence of this Belgian Ale. Great beer!

Appearance is a dark, ruby red, with a big foamy 2-3 finger beige head which hangs around. Aroma- raisin, brown bread, cherry, vinous, sweet fruits, toffee apple. Taste- hop bitterness, boozy dark fruits- raisin, sultana, banana towards the finish, stewed apple, hint of rhubarb, cherry, nutty, bitter finish, breads malt. Complex stuff, very good.

330ml bottle pouring a cloudy brown with off white head. Really nice deep, sweet nose - summer fruit compote. There is some nice maltyness, a little fruit and a pleasant alcoholic warmth that follows right through nicely. Lacks a bit of body and character but still a very pleasant beer.

Spory gaszing po otwarciu kapsla, piana szampańska, sycząca, opadająca do kożucha ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Barwa brunatna, mętna. Aromat zdecydowanie przypomina klasycznego Dubbla - są suszone owoce typu figi, daktyle i rodzynki, kandyzowane mango i domowe wino głogowe. Gdzieś w tle przyprawy i miód gryczany. W smaku wytrawne, w przeciwieństwie do Dubbla nie jest słodkie, mocno winne, wyraźnie melanoidynowe (pumpernikiel, chleb razowy), kwaskowo-zbutwiałe. Nagazowanie średnie do wysokiego, alkohol wyczuwalny, rozgrzewający w przełyku, goryczka korzenno-alkoholowa. Mniej udane piwo od swojego popularniejszego jasnego brata La Chouffe. Przeszkadza mi tu nuta zbutwiałych rodzynek, skwaśniałego wina domowego i brak rodzynkowej słodyczy. No i alkohol także zbyt wysoki...

Espuma densa e levemente escura, aroma de frutas e areia molhada. Gosto lenta caramelo com álcool bem inserido. Muito boa.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, best before 30/11/2016. Clear, dark red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan to white head, leaving heavy lacings on the glass. Pleasant aroma of raisins, blackberry, cane sugar, citrus, prunes and toffee with hints of coconut. Rich, sweetish-sourish taste of raisins, prunes, toffee, cane sugar, molasses and wood. Medium long, slightly bitter and a little warming, gently alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy texture, lively carbonation. Nice sipper, not really tailor-made for spring, but still refreshing due to its light acidity. A bit of a shy aroma, but as heavy and rich in taste as expected. Good!

Dark, malty and a bit spicy. A typical brown beer, with a typical Chouffe twist!
